Let's say that another intelligent civilization came to Earth peacefully, just to strengthen their knowledge of the universe like we try to. If you had the chance, would you go with them as some type of ambassador from Earth to try to learn as much about them as possible and to one day return and teach mankind what you have learned? Would you go even if there was a chance of not being able to return?

I understand the basic mechanics of orbiting bodies -- they are actually 'falling' around the orbited object. What I don't understand is how the balance could be so perfect that even over billions of years, the earth stays in place. And many meteors and meteorites hit the earth all the time. Wouldn't these impacts eventually alter the orbit enough to doom the earth?

Okay ... for all you scientists an wise guys who think they found it ALL, and think that I am an idiot.....here is a new riddle...
Firstly, the moon is NOT always lit.... It gets TOTALLY dark on both sides when in a TOTAL eclipse.
So, in any case....
To all the REAL scientists.... I don't dispute the PHASES of the
moon.... I dispute the fact that it is attributed to the SUN reflecting on it.... Let me explain:
If the light portion would indeed be from the SUN we would see
another phenomene happening ...
Since the SUN is a FIX objet (yes), an the moon a very mobile
objet that may rise from an elevation 0 to an elevation 90 degrees
in a single and same night... than, as it moves higher and father
shouln't the result be that the PHASE light also should appear as
changing as well??? Yes, it should.... Just like it does on planet earth or so...Yet, when the lit part or PHASE is SET for the day, it does NOT MOVE at all even with ANY movement of the moon.
ANY explanation here..?

Are there any speculative data, or theories, about what childbirth would be like in outerspace (such as in a spacecraft)? Could a normal vaginal birth take place under such conditions? How could the infant survive? Have there been animal studies? I won't even bring up the issue of what nationality the baby would be considered... thanks

Can you ever look straight up at night and see the Moon? I realized last night that I never can where I am. The Moon here always skirts the treetops and is never straight up in the sky. Where on the Earth can you look straight up and see the Moon?

We were in France on the day of the shuttle launch -- about 3pm EST and 9pm in France. We saw a streak of light going up to the sky and were wondering if that was the shuttle during launch???

If im understanding it correctly (and its a good chance im not) the universe is divided into 3 torus shaped kinda like a donut. Whats this about travaling in a straight line and comeing back to where you started well kinda were you started, but if you can then light also must do the same thing. Im wondering if the numbers roughly a hundred billion galaxies with a hundred billion stars is grossly over estimated, could we just be seeing the light of our own galaxy doing countless loops around the universe and we are seeing it over and over from diffrent angles giving the illusion of countless galaxies, its just like reflections in a room full of mirrors. I like the idea of a vast universe growing by leeps and bounds but now i hear crazy stuff like this and now my head hurts. Someone plz make the universe make sense again i wanna live in an ever expanding unvierse not some chezzy arcade game where i can jump out the right side of the screen just to come back on the left.

I'm looking to get a tattoo of the a symbol with half the moon and half the sun together with one face on the two halves. I don't know if there's a name but I've seen them many times. I'm looking for something different and original but will be happy with just a basic idea for someone to draw one off of if need be. Thanks so much for your help in advance!!!!!!!!!!
