Earth is just coasting on the energy it got from its formation long ago. It doesn't need anything to drive it. There is no friction from air or anything else in space, so there is nothing slowing it down. It just keeps going and going and going...

The Earth rotates on its axis and revolves around the Sun. It does not require any energy source to continue to do so. Newton's first law: a body in motion will remain in motion unless acted on by an external force.
The Earth inherited its spin from the disk of dust from which it formed. It has actually slowed a bit over time due to tidal friction from the Moon.

One way is that you coul compare this with a remote electrical toy....
exept that it needs no fingers.... it has been set to self play...
the big battery (the SUN) gives an internal signal to the toy (planet Earth) an others... Each planet has a different unique
internal battery(central energy)of its own, so the result is
that each planet has a unique pattern, unique speed, and unique
distance within the main power source (the Sun)... Also,
each planet with its unique metal+gaz+misc combination makes
as well a unique type of revolution of its own...
The main energy(the SUN) possibly hold a mixture of 2 or more combination of energy... basically electrical and of course magnetic as well....
Hope this clears it a little......

centripital force. When a mass is in orbit the outer side counter rotates
Example take a large basin of water hold it in front of you and turn. The water wil start to spin inside the basin, that is like the earth circling the sun
it was spinning for some time now and nothing is trying to stop it so it should keep it up for a while.

Every bit of energy in the universe was created in the big bang.
The moon is slowing down the Earth's rotation by about 1.5 milliseconds/century.

Your question is right. According yo scientists many years ago there was a explosion of a big sphere of gases due to which the planets were separated & theywere moving along there fixed axes around themselves & also around the sun.As there is nothing in space to resist there motion by friction ,only due to the energ of the explosion all the planets are rotating about there axes & also around sun.
