Don't quote me on this, but i'm pretty sure most diseases they test in space are blood related diseases. Becuase when a person (or any living creature ) is suspended in a zero gravity environment for an exteneded period of time their white blood count rises. I'm not sure why.

I think they are concerned with medical problems astronauts have, like bone loss due to long term weightlessness, space sickness which many astronauts suffer from, which is something like sea sickness, radiation and things like that. I don't think it is about using space to cure diseases on Earth.

They probably deal with things like decompression injuries and burns. They may have to deal with the same types of injuries as deep sea divers would. Look up Baromedicine.
