Let's say that another intelligent civilization came to Earth peacefully, just to strengthen their knowledge of the universe like we try to. If you had the chance, would you go with them as some type of ambassador from Earth to try to learn as much about them as possible and to one day return and teach mankind what you have learned? Would you go even if there was a chance of not being able to return?

What would you like to learn about them? Their technology, history, culture, other things?

Hmm, let me be specific. The rest of the Earth knew they existed because they exposed themselves, or the situation was like "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"

I would undoubtedly go, in a heartbeat, despite all the risks! I imagine it might get lonely being an Earth creature surrounded by more intelligent beings, kind of like a monkey in a zoo... but oh the promise of space flight! I don't think it would be boring, that's for sure.

Have you ever seen the old Twilight Zone episode called "To Serve Man"? Advanced aliens come to Earth just as you describe. One of them leaves a book written in an alien language sitting around and we pick it up. We are able to translate the title, "To Serve Man" but not then rest of the book. The aliens start offering visits to their planet and thousands of people go. Then someone succeeds in translating the rest of the book. It is a cook book.

It depends on the negotiation. If they bribe me with good accomodation, safety and VIP treatment, yeah I would! But if the alien has got a face that can't be trusted, especially those wide, black eyes... nah, I'll just offer him a drink and welcome him to the earth and starts interrogating him right in my own turf;)

Wherever we go there is a chance of not being able to return. Would I go? As part of a team, yes. I wouldn't go solo.
