1. A coin is placed 12.5 cm from the axis of a rotating turntable of variable speed. When the speed of the turntable is slowly increased, the coin remains fixed on the turntable until a rate of 36 rpm is reached, at which point the coin slides off. What is the coefficient of static friction between the coin and the turntable?

2. A 1100 kg car rounds a curve of radius 70 m banked at an angle of 12°. If the car is traveling at 90 km/h, will a friction force be required?
If so, how much force? (Enter zero if there is no friction force.)

Estimate the force a person must exert on a string attached to a 0.110 kg ball to make the ball revolve in a horizontal circle of radious 0.600 m. The ball makes 1.80 revolutions per second. Do not ignore the weight of the ball. In particular, find the magnitude of FT, and the angle it makes with the horizontal. [Hint: Set the horizontal component of FT equal to maR; also, since there is no vertical motion, what can you say about the vertical component of FT?]
FT = N
= °

Curve C has the equation
y=(x-1)(x^2-4)

It cuts the x axis at the points (-2,0)(1,0)(2,0)

y=x+7 is an equation of the tangent to C at the point (-1,6)

The tangent to C at the point R is parallel to the tangent at the point (-1,6)

find the exact coordinates of R.

Impossible really.

Let (X, M, m) be a mesure space and let f_n be a sequence of integrable complex valued functions that converges uniformly to a function f. If m(X) < oo, then, f is integrable and lim Int f_n dm = Int f dm. I found a somewhat different proof for this, but some pepole says its too complicated. Do u agree?
Fix some eps >0. Since f_n --> f uniformly, there exists k such that n >= k => |f_n - f_k| < eps => |f_n| < |f_k| + eps, which implies the k tail of f_n is dominated by |f_k| + eps. Since |f_k| is integrabel (because f_k is) and m(X) < oo, then Int (|f_k| + eps) dm = Int |f_k| dm + eps m(X) < oo, so that |f_k| + eps is integrable. Since the k tail of f_n also converges to f, it follws from the Dominated Convergence Theorem that f is integrable and lim(n >= k) f_n dm = Int f dm, which shows the k tail of Inf f_n dm --> Int f dm. Hence, lim Int f_n dm = Int f dm as stated.

There's another proof for this theorem that doesnt rely on the D. C. Theorem.
