Most of the genes in the nucleus are turned off, put "on ice," "in the frige." When needed, they are expressed. At different stages of life, humans express different genes according to their needs. Fetuses need "fetal hemoglobin," because they do not breathe. Once born, the baby stops making fetal hedmoglobin and starts making the adult form. The adult form was in thge "fridge."

Also, when born, humans drink milk, and they digest lactose, a double sugar of glucose and galactose. Many people lose the ability to digest lactose. Their enzyme to digest lactose was left in the fridge. Many people have evolved the ability to keep the enzyme from going back in the fridge.

I think this is a Biology nucleus, not the Chemistry proton/neutron nucleus.

My guess that's where all food is stored.
