A few weeks ago I went into my bathroom & not looking down realized I stepped on something wet. Having 8 cats (inside only, don't go out) I figured it was a hairball but when I looked down it was a small pool of faint pink blood w/some splatter all around. I immediately found all of my cats which were all sleeping after just eating & everyone was fine. I washed the rug & didn't think nothing of it until about a week later. I board pets for a living out of my home. One morning I found a boarded cat w/3 small pools of blood & splatter everywhere in his cage. (When I found this on my rug he wasn't here yet & boarded animals do not go in my home!) Here he had a brain tumor that hemorraged & I had to put him down. What in the world was this? A sign? How was I supposed to know what it meant until after the fact? No I do not do drugs and I've never seen Harry Potter either LOL!

I need a quick release mechanism to release a load of about 20,000 lbs. Ideally the ball bearing clutch type, where a ring holds ball bearings in a groove on the load pin. Sliding the sleeve back allows the ball bearings to move out, releasing the pin.

Does anybody know who sells these, or some other type of load release mechanism? I think special effects people use them a lot.

Thanks
Dave

You would think that the salty runoff produced when the ice and snow melts would seep into the ground and kill the grass or kill fish in the river.

And what about all of the sand? It has to go somewhere too. Doesn't it clog storm drains?

I came up with an explicit formula of: f(n) = 5*2^(n-1) - 3 as a solution to the recursive sequence: f(n) = 2f(n-1) + 3 for all integers n >= 2 and f(1) = 2. Is there a way to use mathematical induction to verify the "correctness" of my explicit formula?

I had my daugher in a stroller in Central Park NYC, and was crossing the park drive, a yellow taxi came around a corner at approximately 35-45 mph and was at least 75 ft away from me when the driver applied his brakes - he would have hit us head on. The car lurched to a stop 25 ft away from us - I think his brakes locked but I'm not sure (nyc cabs have the worst brakes on them from wear and tear), at the moment I saw the car rounding the corner I was prepared to die because I was frozen but something in my mind said stop.

The cab seemed to hit a brick wall and actually shut off and stalled, the driver had trouble re-starting the car and I walked off with my daughter without a care in the world - still alive and not even shaken. This happened at least 12 yrs ago.

Scientist and mathematicians work out the distances and speed for me and see if it's possible that maybe the guy was a good driver with excellent reflexes.
