A creek is a stream , smaller than a river . A lagoon is a circular island formed when the high hill formed by a volcano deteorates and collapses back into the ocean .
Because the volcano base is round , the remaining coral formation will have a circular shape . The reason the base remains, is because coral forms in shallow water , and builds up to very large beds . The coral being harder than the lava, it remains after the volcano sinks back into the ocean . In time , vegetation matter and the droppings of sea birds will build up a soil . Trees and other vegetation take root
