1.)Charles's law states that at a constant pressure, the volume of a fixed amount of gas varies directly with its temperature measured in degrees kelvin.A gas has a volume of 250 mL @ 300 degrees K.
write an equation for the relationship between volume and temperature.
2.)the amount of simple interest earned in a savings account varies directly with the amount of money in the savings account.you have $1000 in your savings account and earned $50 in simple interest .how much interest would you earn if you had $1500 in your savings account?

i found the derivative to be dy/dx = - (2x + 2y)/(2x - 6y)
then i found the slope at that point to be equal to 1, which makes the slope of the normal -1
then i found the normal line to be y = -x + 2

do i set the curve equal to the line?
as in
x^2 + 2xy - 3y^2 = 0
and -y - x + 2 = 0
so
x^2 + 2xy - 3y^2 = -y - x + 2
i did this, then i tried to solve for y. i couldn't. i don't think i'm on the right track though.

so i guess, i'm not sure what to do after i get the normal line

Determine the derivative of x^2 -xy +y^2 =7.
I did 2x - [ydy/dx + x] + 2ydydx = 0 and I know thats where I made the mistake.

So basically, can someone show me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks :)

A woman stands on a platform (with a frictionless pivot), which is rotating with an angular speed of 5.20 rad/s. Her arms are outstretched, and the rotational inertia of the platform+woman system is 5.4 kg·m2. She then pulls her arms in, so that now the system's rotational inertia is 4.20 kg·m2.

What will be her new angular speed when she pulls her arms in?

A clerk moves a box of cans down an aisle by pulling on a strap attached to the box. The clerk pulls with a force of 184.0 N at an angle of 30° with the horizontal. The box has a mass of 31 kg, and the coefficient of kinetic friction between the box and the floor is 0.45. Find the acceleration of the box.

AND

A 3.10 kg block is pushed along the ceiling with an constant applied force of F = 86.5 N that acts at an angle = 52° with the horizontal, as in the figure below. The block accelerates to the right at 6.02 m/s2. Determine the coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the ceiling.

and

A 1.1 kg mass starts from rest and slides down an inclined plane 8.8 10-1 m long in 0.62 s. What net force is acting on the mass along the incline?

Ice skaters use the conservation of angular momentum to produce high-speed spins when they bring their arms close to the rotation axis. Imagine a skater moves her arms inward, cutting the moment of inertia in half and therefore doubling the angular speed. If we consider the rotational kinetic energy, we see that the energy is doubled in this situation. Thus, angular momentum is conserved, but kinetic energy is not. Where does this extra energy come from?
