If gravity pulls matter so hard that light can't escape, it must be traveling at the speed of light somewhere else because of a difference in pressure, right?

Think of our universe as a balloon that's got a slow leak (black hole). It's known that our universe is expanding, so there must be something that's keeping matter in our balloon and inflating it but at the same time still allowing slow leaks to escape, right?

I think a hot air balloon may explain this. When heat is introduced, the balloon fills up with hot air and it expands, and in order to keep the balloon afloat, constant heat must be added.

Well, Stars are a constant source of heat, and although their heat may struggle to reach out of our solar system, trillions of stars could produce enough heat to make our universe expand and compensate for the leak. So if what-ever is outside of our universe, must be either colder or have less matter(diffusion).
Can someone chime in on this?

If you have a problem such as 2.56x10^4 x 4.08^2 would the numbers 2.56 and 4.08 be added or multiplied when trying to simplify it?

Then if you had an exponent that was 10^3 x 10^2 would that equal 10^5 or 10^6?

Another is 1.2 x 10^24 divided by 6.0 x 10^20 what would that equal and why?

Being a scientist was the very first thing I ever wanted to be but life took me in a different direction.

I'm 25 years old and about 9 months away from a Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems from Devry Online.

Right now I'm about to go to Iraq as a civilian truck driver. It pays about $100,000 a year so I figure ill do this for a couple years and save up some money, then come home and finish my education. At that time I'll be 27-28 and it could take anywhere from 2-8 years after that to earn the degree I need to get the job I want.

I kind of like Biology and Genetics. I like the idea of working with DNA to help people. Would I be able to make any difference in the world if I became a scientist? A difference that would make the years of studying worthwhile?

Do you have any general guidance for me? Do you think its too late?

I am just sure I saw a bald eagle picking up a dead armadillo yesterday. It was a huge brown bird with a white tail and white head, yellow beak...looked just like a bald eagle. But I didn't think they ventured this far south, so I thought I would check.

What was the local moon temperature when astronaut's landed on moon. Local means - the temperature where they stayed until they returned to their space shuttle.

I am asking this question because I know that temperature on Moon goes to extremes; more than 100 degree celsius at noon time, where if we want to boil water we do not need artificial heat and water will boil automatically and also can cook food without fire. In the night temperature goes about minus170 degree celsius.

So what time of the day they were on the Moon? If they lived on moon at a period of the day which was a "tolerable range" say early morning or late evening time, then was there any urgency from their side to take off from moon again before the temperature goes to extremes?

I suppose there was a movie - where the astronauts land on an asteroid on night however they had to leave the asteroid before sun rise because with the sun rise the temperature would rise too much so that they would die immediateltly.

I know this is very basic question, but some how I want to understand this mathematics trick.
Let’s say I have $20,000 income this year which is increase of 25% from last year. When I multiply - 20,000 * .25, I get 5,000 but 15,000 (20,000 – 5,000) is not correct answer. Rather 16,000 is correct answer!

How do we calculate reverse percentage?

I need some help with my calculus homework. I'm trying to figure out the series representation for f(x) = ln(x+4) about c = -2. I know that you have to first take the derivative (1/x+4) so as to make it a rational function but then I don't know how to manipulate it so as to make it geometric form. I also have to specify the domain.
