I've altered the equation of an ellipse to make it easier to differentiate: (b^2)(x^2) + (a^2)(y^2) = (a^2)(b^2)

From here, I must use implicit differentiation so that I can find the slope of the tangent line on the ellipse. I need to see it step by step so that I can learn how to do this correctly. Thanks.

It's a new planet that was discovered about 7 months ago. It is an extrasolar planet (meaning it is not in our solar system.) It, however, does orbit a smaller star than our sun but its small distance makes it a place just like earth, habitable. It's temperature is thought to be VERY close to that of our planet. The only problem is that it's 20 light years away from us which is impossible to get to, at least for now. You guys think we'll ever get there? And you think there's intelligent life on it?!!

Down in a cave below the surface of the earth there is:

a) more gravity than at the earth's surface
b) less gravity than at the earth's surface
c) the same gravity as at the surface

Assume the earth's density is the same all the way through. Of course it isn't. But simplistic idealized situations must be thoroughly understood before details can be appreciated.

I'm reading about synapsis and tetrads in Prophase I, and in the picture it has two sister chromatids, and I don't understand how there are 4 total chromosomes, so that when in Anaphase, splitting occurs in meiosis, each new cell has one chromosome from each homologous pair. Why wouldn't it have two? I know tetra means 4, but I don't understand how this works. Isn't a homologous chromosome singular?
