Jane, whose mass is 45.0 kg, needs to swing across a river filled with man-eating crocodiles in order to rescue Tarzan, whose mass is 80.0 kg. However, she must swing into a constant horizontal wind force F on a vine that is initially at an angle of with the vertical. (See Fig. P5.73.) In the figure, D = 50.0 m, F = 118 N, L = 40 m, and theta = 50.0°.
http://www.webassign.net/sercp/p5-73.gif
(a) With what minimum speed must Jane begin her swing in order to just make it to the other side? (Hint: First determine the potential energy that can be associated with the wind force. Because the wind force is constant, use an analogy with the constant gravitational force.)
m/s
(b) Once the rescue is complete, Tarzan and Jane must swing back across the river. With what minimum speed must they begin their swing?
m/s
Any help would probably be appreciated... ^^

I am solving an electromagnetics equation for Chebysheve transformers. My equation I need to solve is:
sec(theta)m = cosh [1/3 cos h ^-1 (1.73 E -01)]
I am not familiar with the sinh, cosh, tanh, etc functions and am unsure how to evaluate the right side of the equation on my scientific calculator. What is the cosh function, and how would I evaluate it on my scientific calculator (TI-83)?
Thank you.

My ap physics class is crazy hard so please help me with this problem!

In a physics lab, a 5.0 kg cart is accelerated across a table by means of a .50 kg hanging mass which is allowed to fall and drag the cart by means of a string and pulley. If the cart moves 1.2 m from rest in 2.0 s, what is the force of friction between the cart and table? what is the tension on the string while the cart is accelerating?

If math is an exact science then i think that if you call the number 33 "thirty three" and the number 21 "twenty one" .... then why not call 16 "onety six"? Shouldn't logic dictate that it should be uniform like that?

I am uncertain whether one is allowed to have repeated elements of a sequence An in a subsequence Bn. If for instance the first few terms of An are:

An = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7...

Is this a possible subsequence:

Bn= 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 1, 2...

I know elements have to stay ordered, but I am not certain of whether they may be used more than once consecutively. I ask this because as a challenge we were asked to find a sequence from which one could find subseqences that would converge to a) Every rational and b) Every irrational. If repeated elements are allowed then the question could be very simply answered, if not then it is more difficult.

I was reading an article about the big chill theory which stated, "The Big Chill theory has been around for decades but has been strengthened by the dark energy findings. If dark energy behaves as predicted, the galaxies will recede from each other at an accelerating rate - eventually faster than lightspeed. When that happens, they will literally vanish from view."

I thought nothing could travel faster than the speed of light. Why do scientists believe it can happen in this case?
