If the Quadratic equation αx2 + βx + a2 + b2 + c2 – ab – bc – ca = 0 has imaginary roots, then

1. 2(α – β ) + (a-b)2 + (b-c)2 + (c-a)2 > 0
2. 2(α – β ) + (a-b)2 + (b-c)2 + (c-a)2 < 0
3. 2(α – β ) + (a-b)2 + (b-c)2 + (c-a)2 = 0
4. none of these

My family has some interest in some property. The interest is divided as follows:

1/24 x 7/8 = .03645833 - $1455 appraised value my share
1/24 x 1/8 = .00520330 - $2358 appraised value rest of family's share
$3813 Total appraised value
The ownership is changing as follows:

1/24 x 1/4 = .01041667 for my share
1/24 x 3/4 = .03125000 rest of family's share
I need to reapportion the total appraisal of $3813 among the new figures. Can you give me the correct calculation, not just the answer? I have been pretty sick lately and can't seem to work this out in my head the right way.

what are the 3 co ordinates of f(x)=x(x-4)(x+2)....

i know that the 3 co ordinates of, say, f(x)=(x-2)(x-3)(x-1) are 2, 3, and 1. But I'm not sure when there aren't 3 set brackets like in the question.

Thanks

(a) A circle has radius 2cm (in that circle there is an triangle AOB) and the chord AB has length 3cm. AO is 2cm and BO is 2cm. O is the centre of the circle.

(b) consider a paper disc whose boundary is the circle in part (a). The sector AOB is removed from the paper disc and the remaining paper is bent round to form a shallow cone by joining the edge OB to the edge OA.

(i) Which arc becomes the circle that is at the base of the cone? Find the angle subtended by this arc in the original circle (in radians), and hence find the length of the arc.

(ii) Hence find the radius of the circle that is at the base of the cone.

(iii) Find the perpendicular height of the cone.

(iv)Given that the formula for the volume of a cone is
V = 1/3 pie r^2 h
(Where r is the radius of the base and h is the perpendicular
Height), find the volume of the cone in this question.

1) A balloon rises at the rate of 8 feet per second from a point on the ground 60 feet from an observer. Find the rate of the angle of elevation when the balloon is 25 feet above the ground.

2) The height of a cylinder with a radius of 4 cm is increasing at a rate of 2 cm/min. Find the rate of change of the volume of the cylinder when h=10 cm.

Just to clarify a prior question, I had; I've heard that ionized air can be potentially harmful (i.e. free radicals) so I want to avoid air cleaners that ionize air. The 3M Filtrete electrostatic polyolefin-based filters (very common in furnace filters, and now as part of a standalone air purifier) are pre-charged with a static charge to attract dirt, dust, and particles of inflowing air.

My question is, as non-ionized (regular) air travels through the filter (via a simple fan, there is no ionizer involved) is there any way that it could pick up any of the charge on the electrostatic filter, or that the air can become somewhat ionized in any way or form after it leaves the filter? Now, AFAIK, air doesn't conduct charges well, so my guess would be no, but I'd like to have an expert opinion.
