Get a good breakfast.
If the test is early in the morning, then lots of carbs (cereal, oatmeal, toast). That's good fast energy ... but it will fade by noon. Watch out for sugar though ... much quick energy, followed by a sudden crash as the last of it burns off. Caffeine ... same warning applies ... but if you're used to coffee in the morning, don't skip it ... now's not the time to try going cold-turkey.
If it's a longer test, or if it won't be until later in the day, then rather than carbs, eat some protein (eggs, a little cheese, ... my power breakfast before three-hour college exams: shrimp omelette). Proteins take longer to break down, and thus provide a longer, more stable source of mental energy.
{p.s.}
As far as Mark K's advice ... I guess that would imply the opposite as well ... if you studied drunk, then get drunk before the test? ... I know I tried that in college a few times ... but trust me, it didn't work (I can look back on my college transcripts and from the grades know which quarters were my party days ... but luckily there weren't too many of those) . But if you were hammering on coffee while you studied, then some coffee before (or during) the test would seem to be the ticket.

You should get enough sleep prior to taking any test. There 2 types of memory I always consider when I was in college, Short Term and Long Term Memory. To avoid cramming during exams, after a day's lecture review the lessons. On the second day of lessons during the night review the first lesson and the second lesson. On the third day, review the first, the second and the third lesson so on and so forth. This would enable you to retain better memory during the test. It is better to feel anxious during the test than very confident.

It makes it harder, but truthfully simple carbs and sugar with a little protein ( not enough to make you sleepy ) just enough to get you through the test... and caffeine in moderation like one to two cups of coffee or a regular soda or two if you can tolerate the caffeine. Then be sure and nap after the test... you will likely have a blood sugar crash, eat some protein after

lack of sleep makes it harder to remember things. if you don't get enough sleep, you MUST do a lot of last minute cramming to memorize what you need to know.
and don't drink coffee no matter what. it's better to be a little sleepy than hyped up on coffee which will be a distraction. take it from me, with years of personal experience.

If you know your subject very very well, you'll do all right on the test.
"Cramming" at the last minute will probably not help you to know the subject very very well. Some review is good... but you should try to learn at the speed at which the material is presented in the class.

If you really know the material, you should do well on the test. Stay calm. Test anxiety gets in the way of clear thinking.
Best Wishes.

This may sound a little counter intuitive, but make sure you are tired when you study as well. In psychology they say that if you are in a certian state when you study, repeating that state when you take the test yields better results.
Eg if you are taking a test when you are drunk, be drunk when you study.

Remember to bring some lollies to chew on during the exam. They are high in glucose and the only source of energy that the brain takes is glucose.
Good luck!

Funny, I'm in biology right now...
Just think that once you finish the test you'll be able to take a nice, long nap, even though it's probably not true.
