an alternate allele of the hemoglobin gene can cause sickle-cell anemia when a person is homozygous for this allele, but that a person who is heterozygous for the allele actually can derive a benefit from it--protection from malaria. In the United States, 8 percent of African Americans are carriers for the sickle-cell allele, while in central Africa the figure is 20 percent. What could account for this difference? Assess.

Am a first semester high-school student, and I have a lil doubt.
My teacher says these concepts are the the same: Antimatery and Bose-Einstein. But I've looked trough Internet and books and it doesn't say anything about antimatery when I look for for condensate, and viceversa. So I have this asking.

I'd like to clear this doubt.
Thanks!

I live in Jacksonville, FL and wanted to know if anyone knows how far a 30ft surge of water would travel inland where the land is basically flat. I am approximately 8 miles from the east coast Atlantic ocean and I don't have flood insurance. I'm sure it is possible that my house could flood, but I wondered if anyone knows how likely that would be.

No need to tell me to get flood insurance because at this time I cannot afford it. The last hurricane to hit here was in 1964 so it's about time for one.

so there are 2 main types of A bombs right? hydrogen and uranium (and plutonium 2 right?)

well do they work on the opposite principle? an h bomb works the same as the sun right? it ruses 2 (or 4 like the sun?) hydrogens together and releases energy. so a uranium bomb splits uranium atoms right? because to fuse any atoms above iron requires enerygy, so spliting them would release it, right?

just wondering.

Yahoo news says that in 3-10 years we will create artificial life. They say it will be a "big deal." I am not sure why. Maybe the first few days after the scientists of the world have VERIFIED that artificial life was created, but then what?

It is a one cell life form...

It probably will be years and years before we develop it into anything that walks, etc.

I think we have a better chance of having aliens land and become our neighbors, or robots like on I-robot, being built, before artificial life is anything more than a 'speck in a lab.'

What do you think?

hi, i was just answering another question, when i thought i would ask this,do you think the space station is there for other reasons other than wat wer told?
do you think that they have started another population already on another planet, i think they have, it makes scence as now they have relised just how bad they have ruined our planet now there looking to experiment new ideas for the next one so they dont stuff that one up to, i know it sounds a little far fetched but,
when they have taken all the oil and gass coal and from our planet how will they make as much money to keep them all power full leaders?
they really cant unless they have already started to think of other ways already thats why there not doing much to change the ways they do things even thou they know wat there doing is wrong, our plates that we live on will start to grinde ad sink without oil and gas dont you think?
more volanos will erupt poison us or even worst they will send us into another ice age,
