25
side A squared+ side B squared= side C squared
7x7=49
24x24=576
49+576=625
square root of 625=25
THIS IS ONLY IF IT IS A RIGHT TRIANGLE!!!!

It could be any length between 17 (24-7) and 31 (24+7). You need at least one angle before you can calculate the length of the third side.
With a 90 degree angle, I will assume that the angle is between the two specified sides. Then we need to find the hypotenuse. Use Pythagoras' Theorem.
c^2 = a^2 + b^2
c^2 = 7^2 + 24^2
= 49 + 576
= 625
c = 25
The third side will be 25.

If it's a right triangle with sides 7 and 24, the hypotenuse is 25.
7^2 + 24^2 = 25^2

It would depend on the kind of triangle, or at least one of the angles were given..
ahh yes, using pyhtagorean theorem, if a right angle
the hypotenuse will be:
c^2 = 7^2 + 24^2
c = 25

the third side must be greater than the difference of the first two sides and less the the sum of the first two sides
24 - 7 < x < 24 + 7
17 < x < 31

is the 24 the hypotenuse or the opposite side of 7? you have to know that before you can solve this.

I believe the answer is 25 using the pythagoream theorem, but I just learned it so it may be wrong.

you would have to know one of the angles to figure this question out... then you could use the law of cosines (i think that it is what it is called)
