hii ok so i have another homework question..

- use the graphs to determine the equation of the qudratic functions in standard form.

its a parabola opening down, the roots are at -4 and 7. and they give me another point which is (6,32). there is no vertex point given.

i started by doing this :

a(x+4)(x-7) =0
a(x^2-7x+4x-28)=0
a(x^2-3x-28)=0

then i plugged in the points to find a.

32=0(36-18-28)
32=(a)(-10)

NOW, here's where the problem is..

a is supposed to equal -3.2. (the answer is -3.2x^2+9.6+89.6).

but how is 32*10 = -3.2??? :S :S

--------------

also, how do you find the equation when its a parabola opening up. they only give you the vertex (3,5) and one point on the graph which is (9,-35) ??

please include the steps in your answer plz!! :) thx!

Please explain and correct me where wrong.
I know that the maximum RPM of an engine dictates the maximum speed at which air can enter it. So when the craft is travelling faster than that speed, there is an ingenious inlet design.
I know that the design of the inlet creates a shock wave to kill the energy in that air, and slow it down.
(This is more so in Supersonic but I'm sticking to subsonic)
So, if a craft is travelling at 600mph, and (Say) the max intake speed is 500mph....
What happens in front of the engine? Is there a build up of air that can't get into the engine?
That would cause a hell of a lot of drag, how is that dealt with?

Please explain in detail as this sort of thing is best described with drawings....but we don't have them.
Cheers!

For instance, all of the energy being burned by all of the electronic devices like video displays, lights, musical instruments, and so on.....Plus what about the tons of garbage being generated by all of those people at the concert? All of the plastic bottles, cups, wrist bands, and so forth. Plus, what are they going to do with all of the tires they used for the background? What about the paint they used on the tires....even if they recycled the tires, wouldn't the paint harm the enviroment? Am I the only one out there that thinks this is rediculous?

Got a weird question, but here it goes. Last week we had our old driveway ripped up to be replaced. In the process they laid down all sorts of dirt, rocks and pieces of cracked ceramics. We have to let it settle for 3 weeks until the new Asphalt is laid down. Since then, we've had dozens and dozens of beautiful butterflies all over the ripped up area. What is the attraction? There must be something in that dirt but what? I thought they liked nectar. Can anyone explain this phenomemna?

There's a cage with 10 pets in it - dogs and cats. There are 56 biscuits to be fed to them. Each dog eats 6 biscuits and each cats eats 5 biscuits. How many of each pet are there?

The algebraic equation to this problem is

6D + 5C = 56
6(10 - C) + 5C = 56
60 - 6C + 5C = 56
60 - C = 56
- C = -4
C = 4

but where did the 6(10-C) come from? Also, how did you came to having -C=-4?
