What I know is that Burn Surgery is a specialized filled under General Surgery. To become one you need to be a graduate with a medical degree (MD), then have internship, residency and take specialized training and register as a Burn Surgeon. Rough calculation would be more than 10 years or so.

Typically, burn surgeons go through a general surgery residency, not plastics. This is because as a general surgeon, and since burn patients typically have a lot of other trauma, he/she can take care of the whole patient.

hi there

Burn surgery is simply any procedure related to management of burn injuries. It can be debridement, removal of eschars( the black hardened burn tissues), reconstructive surgery.

For sure you would need a medical degree and a surgical training background. In our country (philippines) a lot of these proceudres are included in plastic and reconstructive surgical specialty.
