There's hundreds, perhaps thousands, of ant species so it varies quite a bit but on average an ant can carry about 20 times its weight. Some species have been know to carry about 50 times its own weight.
And while this doesn't sound like a lot, put it into human terms.
If a 160 pound person carried 20 times his/her weight that would be 3200 pounds.

Most ants can lift 20-50 times their own weight (depending on the ant and the ant's weight) but I think on a show I watched two days ago, a weaver ant outdid itself. It was upside-down on a piece of glass and it was holding like, 100 times its weight or something. Don't quote me, but it was amazing. It's little front legs were stretched to the extreme.

its been proven that some can lift up the 100x theit own weight which is like so little because they dont even weight an ounce so id say like 1 to 3 pounds and for the first guy that answerd this question you are an idiot if humans cant lift that much how can a ant???
