Ok, I came across this in maths the other day. Say
X=.9'(recuring) So then
10X=9.9' so then subract the first equation from the second,
10X-X=9X and 9.9' -.9' = 9 meaning
9X=9. Now divide that by 9, and
X=9/9
X=1. Makes sense right? However, when we started this we new that X=.9', so if X= both 1 and .9' , that means that 1=.9'
1 is therefore not constant, so that means that maths does not work. Can someone help me with this?

My person's record contains a list of base sequences for genes F, H, A, and G. But my teacher told our class to only copy down the generations and not the base sequences. So the generations are:

F1
F1
H1
H2
A1
A1
G2
G2

..So I'm having trouble answering the questions:

1. Notice that your person's record contains a list of base sequences for genes F, H, A, and G. Why does this record show two sequences for most or all of these genes?

2. The sequences shown are only 30 bases long. Do you think that each sequence represents one complete gene or only a portion of a gene? Explain your answer.

3. What explanation can you offer for the observation that males have only one F gene and never two?

4. Consider genes H, A, and G. For which of these genes are you homozygous? For which are you heterozygous? List two ways in which you can determine this from the information on the screen.

You are on roller blades on top of a large hill. Your potential energy is equal to 1000 joules. You weigh 60kg (588N). If you start skating down this hill, your potential energy will be converted to kinetic energy. At the bottom of the hill, your kinetic energy will be equal to your potential energy at the top.
What will be your speed at the bottom of the hill?

I really don't understand this. Please help.

I'm having trouble on this question. Any help would be appreciated.

The equilibrium constant for the reaction
AuBr4- + 2Au(s) + 2Br- <--> 3AuBr2-
can be determined by preparing a solution of AuBr4- and AuBr2- in contact with a piece of gold metal. The absorbance of the solution due to AuBr4- is measured at 382 nm. In one experiment, a solution containing a total of 6.41 x10-4 mol/L of dissolved gold (both AuBr4-, AuBr2-) in .4 M of hydrobromic acid was at equilibrium in the presence of gold metal. The total absorbance was found to be .445 in a 1.0 cm cell at 382 nm; however, AuBr2- does not absorb at 382 nm.
In a seperate experiment, the absorbance of 8.54x10-5 M solultion containing only AuBr4- (no AuBr2-) in .4 M HBr was determined in a 1.0 cm cell to be .41 at 382 nm.

1. Calculate the equilibrium concentrations of AuBr4- and AuBr2-.
2. Evaluate the equilibrium constant for the reaction.
