I know what happens to a dead body, the sweeling and generally ick. But if someone just immersed themselves in water, with proper breathing devices, and no protection. How would it affect them? They have water, food, and waste facilities. I looked up why skin wrinkles and shipwreck survivors and immersion tanks with little help to my question. And hypothetically this is clean water, not dirty water so I don't think the water torture stuff applies.

How does it make things white, and how does it kill germs?

Don't be afraid of being scientific in your answer.

I've done my fair share of chemistry but I can't remember anything about bleach, besides something to do with Chlorine ions.

MPs will tomorrow debate scrapping Greenwich Mean Time and aligning British clocks with mainland Europe.

Why??? Does a one hour difference really make a massive change for 6 months of the year?

It's the things like GMT that give us that slight edge. The fact that in some way we could be classified as the centre of the earth, there are countries ahead of us in time (+GMT) and some behind (-GMT). It's a shame that these things we are losing because of pathetic people in positions they deserve not to be in!

I live in an urban area in Southern California. I have visited websites about tardigrades ("water bears") and, though they say that tardigrades can be found worldwide, they do not say where specifically. If I were to collect some moss in my local San Gabriel mountains, would I find tardigrades? How about if I collected some wet earth/moss in my backyard? Has anyone heard of someone in the San Gabriel Valley finding tardigrades?
