Hi does magnesium tetrachloride have a giant ionic structure or simple covalent structure?
It makes sense to be covalent, since it needs four covalent bonds to get a full outer shell - which it gets from the four chlorine atoms. But they're metal and non-metal, so they may somehow be ionic...
