How do you calculate it? (Cn being the number ions of the species which surround the other ion
in a lattice, i.e. in CsCl, Cl's Cn is 8, so for every Cs+ ion there are 8 Cl- ions around it)

I got in an argument today with my College Algebra and Trig (cat) professor about the fact that "imaginary numbers" are pure bullshit. You simply cannot get an answer for a negative square root. so, does anyone have any logic reason why the exsist other than to appease the people who think there HAS to be an answer for everything?

I have a B.A. in Communications and very few math or science undergraduate classes. I work full time as a design engineer, and need the quickest and most cost effective plan to prepare for graduate school.

200.0 Joules of heat is required to raise the temperature of an object sample by 3.00ºC. If the specific heat of the object is .01490 J/gºC, what is the mass of the sample in kilograms?

0.993 x 10-3 kg
4474.3 kg
4.474 kg
40.268 kg
0.067 kg

A 2.00-kg metal object requires 5020 J of heat to raise its temperature from 20.0°C to 40.0°C. What is the specific heat capacity of the metal?

126 J/(kg • °C)
106 KJ/(kg • °C)
126 cal/(kg • °C)
142 kcal(kg • °C)

1146 joules of heat is released when a 100.0 gram sample of an unknown metal cools from 95.00°C to 65.00°C. Determine the specific heat of a metal.

Atmospheric pressure only supports a column of water ~34 feet, so atmospheric pressure is not how water reaches the top of the tree.

For example, you have a stand-alone room fan with three speeds - low, medium, high. It seems that often the fan switch will go from "off" to "high", then "medium", then "low". This seems counter-intuitive, and also a waste of energy if you just want the fan to be on the low setting.

In a car, you never see this design on the blower knob for the air conditioner. That always goes from low to medium to high, as one would expect.

The Theory of Evolution does not say that we came from monkeys. it simply states that things change over time. i am sick and tired of ppl denying it exists because the truth is that it does. Everything living evolves, we evolve but NOT from monkey/apes thay are in a diff family. plants evolve, etc etc. it is crap that some skool dont teach it, it is a simple little theory that is in fact true and it is important for the comprehension on most sciences, so those skools are almost setting their students up for failure!
