Is this just a scam?

I've seen company's advertise this for gifts. For a number of $$'s you can have a star named for someone and they send you a certificate of where that star is, etc, etc.

How does this work if many companys around the world are doing it? Who "puts dibs" on certain parts of the galaxy, so other companys don't "sell" that star?

What is a) the force necessary to keep a ball of mass 1 kg travelling in a circle of raduis 1 meter at a speed of 1 m/s? b) the angular velocity of the ball? c) the kinetic energy of the ball?

Writing an equation from a word problem?

Okay...I feel stupid, but I'm bad at understanding stuff. Right now we're working with polynomials. Anyone want to help? please? So here's what I need:

"...a rectangular solid whose height is two feet shorter than its width, and whose length is twice its width. The car has a volume of 150 cubic feet.

Annual Tornadoes in UK vs. USA?

I recently read on here that the BBC reported that tornadoes are not as rare in the UK as people think. Understandable. I then read that the BBC reported that there are more tornadoes in the UK than in the USA, they just don't get reported. That can't be right. Last time I checked, the USA has over 50% of the entire world's tornadoes. Could someone please explain (1) if that report actually happened and (2) what their source was?
