A shark's skeleton is made from cartilage; they don't have the same bladder as a bony fish; they don't drink water like most fish, they actual absorb it; they constantly lose and regrow teeth, unlike bony fish and most animals for that matter. Fish also don't have a bad reputation and haven't had feature films that show them in a negative light.

Sharks ARE fish. However, along with the rays and lampreys, they are unlike other fish in that they do not have a bony skeleton. I think 'bones' is the answer you'd be looking for.

Bony fishes have operculum, have scales of cycloid, ctenoid type, have swim bladder, have smaller liver, are oviparous. Have bony endoskeleton. Have homocercal or diphicercal tail fins.

Sharks are devoid of opeculum, have scales that are placoid, no swim bladder, have larger liver, are viviparous. Have cartilaginous endoskeleton. Have heterocercal tail fins.
