I thought it was about 120 miles above the Earth, but as I was listening to a Yahoo Reuters report...the female reporter noted that the astronaughts were "thousands of miles above the Earth" as the first 6 words of the news clip. The linke is http://news.yahoo.com/i/753

You don't have to answer all of these....answering even one would be a huge help. I just really do not understand these. Thank you so much for your time! I really appreciate it!

a. How would you estimate the time it takes for a ball thrown up with a velocity of 15 m/s to reach its highest point? What is its highest point?

b. Estimate the final velocity of a ball thrown down initially with a velocity of 15 m/s if it falls for 10 seconds. Please explain your reasoning.

c. What is the average velocity of this ball on its way up to its highest point?

d. How long does it take for the ball to reach the ground from its highest point?

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I just don't understand how to do this and I badly need help. Thanks again!

Thanks!

I was planning to buy my telescope from the discovery shop and wanted to inquire about the differences in the following two models of refracting scopes

Meade 114EQ-AR Telescope for about $199

Meade 114EQ-ASTR Telescope for about $149

I was also wondering weather my first scope should be a reflecting or refracting? what are the major differences between the both in terms of keeping the hobby of astronomy insteresting for a beginner and sustaining enough interest to build on it.

A refracting model is

Meade 80EQ-AR Telescope for about $229

Hoping for an answer soon. Thanks to all

If an electric generator with 220v single phase output is connected to a home electrical system through a 220v outlet and the main breaker in the breaker box is turned off to disconnect the house from the city power, will the generator then power the house without feeding power back to the city power grid?

Could an existing outlet be used, such as an electric dryer outlet, if the load from the house was first adjusted to ensure that it was less than the breaker capacity on the dryer outlet?

What are the dangers to doing this (aside from those related directly to generating your own power)?

What is the correct way to do this without spending a thousand or more dollars on automatic transfer switches and such?
