sulphur oxides and nitrogen oxides result in acid rains which damages the fertility of the soil etc. and also,sulphur dioxide is harmful for ur lungs and surely has adverse effects on environment..

So2 combines with water to make sulphurous acid, with more O2 it becomes sulphuric acid, acid rain.
