I found that the first derivative is

-4cos(2x)-2sin(x)

Can someone help me find the critical numbers of the derivative? I have all the asymptotes but need to show work.

In my calculator I found there should be critical numbers at pi, 3pi/2, and 3.01626.

I am totally clueless on how to find these. Any help and instructions would be very helpful.

Thank You

Recently, i was in the Albany capitol building on the million dollar staircase, and i looked on the cieling. There was a parabolic arch with the vertex a bit below the cieilng, and beyond that a cieling formed a kind of dome. The interesting thing about this was that the light, which was situated right in front of the arch, created a shadow on the dome behind it that, instead of creating a parabolic shadow, created quite the opposite, two shadowy curves going opposite directions, so that they came together at a cusp, and not a curve. How could this happen?

This was on a test for one of my classes and it's driving me crazy:

In a population, 1 in 25,000 people suffer from cystic fibrosis, a recessive disorder. Calculate the frequency of the dominant p allele, the frequency of the recessive q allele, and the frequency of heterozygotes.

I'm just curious what you get for answers, I already (for the most part) know how to do these problems, I just don't think the answers I got were right. The equation for allelic frequency is p+q=1, and the equation for genotypic frequency is p^2+2pq+q^2=1, in case you forgot. Aaaaaanyhoo, thanks!

I have recurring dreams of a lot of water and me drowning. Whether it's a "lake" in a single room or an ocean, I have these recurring dreams. Once, I had a dream where I fell off a waterfall and was in a swirling circle of water, went down with it, and actually woke up gasping for air! Anyone have any ideas on the meaning of these dreams? I never was afraid of water until recently.

I've been told that a property of waves is that when two waves of the same frequency meet, they can either interfere constructively or destructively, depending on how much they are in phase with each other. However, in band, it doesn't matter how far apart they are, or where you, the listener are, if 10 trumpets play together at the same note, then they will always sound louder. It seems logically that if each instrument was creating individual alternating high and low pressure zones, then entropy would never allow those to all lign up perfectly, and eventually all those vibrations, if you had enough instruments, would just interfere so much that you were left with just regular air. But this never happens, the instruments always sound louder.
