An 86.0 kg climber is scaling the vertical wall of a mountain. His safety rope is made of nylon that, when stretched, behaves like a spring with a spring constant of 1.20 x 10^3 N/m. He accidentally slips and falls freely for 0.750 m before the rope runs out of slack. How much is the rope streched when it breaks his fall and momentarily brings him to rest?

My Approach:
1/2(86)(3.38 m/s) + (86)(9.8)(0) = 1/2(86)(0) + 1/2(1200)x --- i solved from the middle and the bottom

145.3 = 600x

x = .242 m

I found PE and KE at the middle and PE(elastic) and PE at bottom...the answer is wrong for sure though--it doesn't even come close to the book answer at 1.95m

for real? yes it is true, most doctors won't tell you but flonase has steroids in it. I expirienced depression while taking it. I advise you to stop taking it if you are expiriencing any symptoms of depression or irritability. And so i don't get in trouble for not asking a question..... Do you have a food allergy?

when the real effects of climate change in europe and USA will be felt? Meaning conditions that people will find it very hard to lead 'normal' lives? I read an article in Time-magazine that said it will be about 50years. Same information was found both, in the EU web pages and USA goverment internet site. Is it really happening so fast and are the governments really acting and reacting this slow to stop it? Apparently it is at the point where we either act now or it will be too late. Is this true?

We already had decided on a few importnt things for our research.We are going to use rabbits as our test animal. We are going to compare two groups using a paired t-test.
Each group is composed of 8 rabbits. Here is the flow of our procedure...acclimatize rabbits for 3 days, then get baseline cholesterol level of both groups.next, we are going to fed the 2 groups with pellets coated with lard inorder to increase their serum cholesterol level.Then get the cholesterol level(pre-test). Then for four weeks, we will treat the experimental group with geen tea while the control group for simvastatin which is a cholesterol lowering drug and then compare the result(post-test).

How are we going to compute for the sample size?

How will it differ if were are going to do these just by using 3 rabbits for each group?Or is that possible?

Convert the polar equation to a rectangular equation.
r = (8secθ) / (4secθ + 1)

Simplify the rectangular equation by moving all of the terms to the left side of the equation, and combining like terms. The right side of the equation will then be 0.

??? = 0

I would like to know how to solve step-by-step to this problem. The answer to this question is:
15x^2 + 16y^2 + 16x - 64 = 0

thanks so much
