I live in the California Bay Area and have a friend who lives in West Virginia. We were curious to know when we were on the phone earlier if we were looking at the same stars.

Considering that the orbit of Pluto is highly eccentric, and that at certain times, Pluto is closer to the sun than Neptune then that must mean that the orbital paths of Neptune and Pluto cross.

If that is the case, won't they at some point hit each other?

If their orbits are not on the same plane, isn't it still possible for them to hit each other?

Say you had a twig or thin piece of wood, which type is least likely to snap/break/crack? Almost like a pencil that is not easily broken.

What would happen if I touch a +12V DC line that can supply up to 6
Amps, will I die? Or just get really hurt?

Ive only been electrocuted once, by a throwaway camera strobe flash
capacitor.

I am standing with or without shoes on a floor, my hands have normal
moisture content.

A block of wood is compressed 1.2 nm when inward forces of magnitude 103 N are applied to it on two opposite sides.

(a) What is the effective spring constant of the block? (HINT: Please use Hooke's law equation 6-19 from chapter 6 of your text book.)

(b) Assuming Hooke's law still holds, how much would the block be compressed by inward forces of magnitude 490 N?
