I am from the US and my husband is from Venezuela. I have wanted to name my next son Cruz since even before I was pregnant. The problem is that apparently, in the Hispanic culture, Cruz is used mostly for women, and older women at that. In the US, I have only ever heard it used for guys. A recent example of Cruz for a boy (although I only learned about it AFTER I had already decided I liked the name) is the Beckhams - David Beckham and his wife Victoria named their third son Cruz.
Our other choice is Landon, but I'm afraid it is too similar to our other son's name, Lance.
Does anyone have any reaction, feedback or suggestions? I'd especially like to hear from anyone who is familiar with Cruz in the Hispanic culture and the implications of naming a boy with a traditionally feminine name - that seems to be my husband's biggest hang-up with the name. THANKS!!
