Baby Names - November 2006

[Selected]: All categories Pregnancy & Parenting Baby Names

I'm all for being original. Afterall, everyone wants their child to be named something special and unique; but with some of the names I've seen over the past few years, children are (at best) doomed to a lifetime of spelling out their version of their name, or teaching people how to pronounce it.

It's gotten to the point where you could name your child Matthew and be totally original again, lol. Does anyone else think it's gotten out of hand?

I have one for a girl and no I am not going to use it, she's a character in my story. More of a comic relief.
Obelia Ethel Tulip Rosemary Garnet Henrietta Honeysuckle Jobb.
This name is a part of her character.
She has a wispy squeaky voice, corkscrew copper red curls.
clothing usually bright colors with animal prints and she is very heavy set. No pun intended.
So tell me your worst names to saddle a kid with male or female.

Also what about the spelling..Brinley, Brynlee, Brynlie, Brinlee? I wanted to use Abbey as the middle name because it is my mom and step-dads last name ( it would mean a lot to my step dad for he is my "real" dad in my book)

My fiance has an 8 month old son named Aidyn Layne.. When we have a child, if it's a girl I want to name her Addyson Lynn. I love the name Addyson and Lynn is one of good friends' middle name, but would it be stupid to have the names go together if they are only half-siblings? Oh and my fiance's ex-wife wrote in a survey that if she ever had a girl she liked the name Addison!! What do ya'll think?

In mid December I'm expecting a boy who's first name will be Trent. My husband and I are having trouble picking a middle name though. We've agreed that If he is born tomorrow his name will be "Trent Alexander" but we're still seaching for that "perfect" middle name. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

We are naming our daughter Brooke, and I have a middle name chosen for her too, and My husband keeps saying over an over again that he wants to name her after me, but I feel weird doing that. My name is Heather and he would like to name her
Heather Brooke, and I do like it, but still feels weird. I told him I would still call her Brooke, because I feel she needs her own name. What do you think ? I dont want to know if you like the name or not, just your opinion on naming the daughter after the mother.

I'm 17 and pregnant with a baby girl...the daddy is 23.
The names that I have come up with that I like are:
October Bethany Reed
Lorelai Deliliah Reed
Lucy-Cecilia Reed
Autum Cecilia Reed
Alianne (ali-anne) Iris Reed

I would love opinions, and suggestions, but please don't leave a comment if you are going to be rude or nasty.

By the way, the last name will be Reed. I'm getting married shortly after the birth

Having a boy in 2 weeks (more or less). I think we have narrowed it down to the following names. Could you please rank most to least favorite to help us out?

Liam Andrew
Andrew William
Cameron Andrew
Cameron William
Cameron Andrew William

William (or form of Liam) is in memory of my grandfather.
Andrew is my husband's middle name. Cameron is just a name we like (gaelic background).

Thanks!!!

Baby girl on the way who will be named Elena (like it or not) and I am really having a hard time with the middle name. Just looking for reasonable suggestions. Last initial is G. We thought about Elena Grace, but giving her the initials "EGG" seems mean.
