that is true. even though the name is the same if it is spelled differently it has a different meaning. it all depends on the spelling. But in this case they are both the same. probably because they derive from the same place.
Layla - Dark Beauty - Arabic
Leila - Dark Beauty - Arabic
hope this helps :)
I would go with Layla. I like it alot.

LAYLA "wine, alcohol"
LEILA “night, dark night"

The name is Arabic but it is written differently in other languages. For example, Bosnian version is Lejla. The pronunciation is the same so it doesn't make a lot of difference. This is important since every name should carry a good and positive meaning. After all, the identity beings with it.

They both have the same meaning.
Normally Layla is pronounced the way it is written and Leila is pronounced by alot of people (LEE-LUH)
Its a gorgeous name for a little girl.

If you want the name to _sound_like Layla, then choose the name Layla. "LAY-luh" If you want the name to sound like "LAY-luh" but you chose the name Leila instead, some folks will pronounce it "LEE-luh".

I had a friend named Leila, and she pronounced it "LEE-luh".
