Some of the leading Economist in the country believe we are heading towards a recession due to the high gasoline prices, the Housing Market burst, the falling stock market and a number of other economic indicators. Even the Federal Reserve Chairman admits that we are having a economic slow down and the 4th quarter. This is usually the first sign of a recession.

The proponents of globalization and so called "free" trade love to trade with China causes it increases profits..we all know this. Now we find out that China is committing to building a fleet of aircraft carriers as they are richer now from the business our government and free traders have given to them. But there is another aspect to this that is not as readily apparent. Now that Communist China will have more weapons, guess who will be clamoring for more weapons to keep a step ahead of them. Bingo ! you got it, the very same people who were proponents of trading with the chinese regime and making them rich. Say hello to a new arms race, and more profits for free traders and the military industrial complex. And why do the very same people clamor to give weapons and cash to people who just months ago were killing our soldiers in Iraq? Bingo !!
Notice how convenient how it works out that the very same people who benefit from the problem tend to help create it? (see Iraq Fiasco)

and then was ousted in a coup by the military?

Isn't Pakistand chock full of Radical islamists who would love to turn that country into a islamic state? In fact, if there was a democratically held election and all Pakistanis had a vote, would the result of said election not be that those who are proponents of an islamic state be the ones elected? So why is Bush calling for democratic elections? is it because he knows what the results would be ahead of time...and the election would be stolen?

Most people who are trying to invade the privacy of women are ALSO against helping the children in the cities, who have horrible education and are almost 70% guaranteed a spot in jail when they are grown. Why do you want to cut programs to single moms. How is it anything other than hypocritical to make a lot of noise about abortion but not give a DAMN about minority and poor children? The general response when I ask about helping these people is: well they shouldn't have kids! I guess they shouldn't fall in love or *gasp* have sex either. I guess the poor should be breeders for infertile wealthy couples, have babies and give them to the rich. Why are you guys against SEX EDUCATION and CONTRACEPTION? The ideal world of June Cleaver, where we all get married to company men and only then lose our virginity is pretty and all, but unrealistic, and perhaps you should devote more time to helping the HUMANS WHO ARE CURRENTLY ALIVE. And, I'm pregnant so I THINK i know, it's a FETUS NOW.

When George W. Bush was the governor of Texas, the state investigated, indicted, convicted and sentenced to prison for 10 years a county sheriff who, with his deputies, had waterboarded a criminal suspect. That sheriff got no pardon from Gov. Bush.

Waterboarding is torture in the eyes of all civilized peoples, no matter how desperately President George W. Bush tries to rewrite the English language, with which he has only a passing familiarity, anyway. No matter how desperately his entire administration tries to redefine the word "torture" to cover the fact that not only have they acquiesced in its use, but they also have ordered its use.

The president, Vice President Dick Cheney, and their cronies and legal mouthpieces such as David Addington, John Yoo and Alberto Gonzales are doing all they can to avoid one day facing the bar of justice, at home or in The Hague, and being called to account for crimes against humanity.

Why do so many America have such a negative opinion of this form of Government? I'm well aware of the history behind it, as well as how sucessful Capitalism is (or is it? With 1% of the popultion controlling 50% of the wealth and the Middle Class rapidly dissolving, but thats not my point).

But seriously, has EVERYBODY out there bashing Socialism read anything by Marx? If executed correctly Communism/Socialism is really a beautiful system of government, if not a bit idealist.

I'm as Pro-American as anybody, so don't start calling me "Red" or anything like that, mostly because I'm not, I just felt the question needed to be asked.

All this bull about how torture doesn't work because they'll just tell you what you want to hear to make you stop torturing them.

How about this? ......we know for certain Akmed knows where the nuclear bomb is in an American city and when it will go off. Put a ball-gag in his mouth and put him in extreme pain. Tell him the pain will not stop until the bomb has been found and disarmed. If it goes off he will die. Tell him the more and better information he gives, the sooner we will find the bomb and the sooner the pain will stop.
-
So he won't tell you what you want to hear to get the pain to stop, because the pain won't stop until his information has been verified.

Not that I advocate any particular method, but why can't people use their imagination a little and see past the classic straw-man argument about getting bad information?

with the "writters guild" strike and CBS' efforts to have a "green" week?

With the studios closed and all those massive C02 polluting AC units on those rooftops coming to a grinding halt and CBS running without the studio lights on... did that tip the global warming scales here in California enough to end the war on summer and create a "California cooling trend" that will no doubt effect the entire atmosphere for the world?

Would it be more love?
Money?
Emotional support from family, friends, and the community?
The father of the child wanting the baby, and being able to help raise and support her/him?
Marriage?
A priest telling her it's evil to have abortions?
An easier life?
A good family who would readily adopt the child, and pay all the medical bills?
A look into the future to see their child year by year as they grow?

Of course I am speaking of healthy women who abort their babies.
