When a President comes to office that cares about US citizens, international people and laws benefiting the working class more than their own pocketbook.

Girly above - People around the world love Clinton and laugh at Bush's inability to speak English or reason. In 2004, I watched the debates with a room full of people from around the World. Every time Bush made a mistake, the room erupted into laughter, even people whose second language was English. Afterwards, the few brainwashed republicans were easy to spot with their angry faces of disbelief.

If politicians want English to be the official US language, at least, they should be able to speak proper English. Check out who North and South America were named after - Spaniard Amerigo Vespucci. Google it. Also interesting that many Christians in the US refuse to learn the languages of the Bible or of Constantine. Nothing translated is as beautiful or means the same as its original language.

Republicans - Remember all those patriotic songs that the candidates use as rhetorical devices. Ron Paul is using the word "constitution" as a rhetorical device and then defining it to meet his beliefs.

Clinton didn't drive the country into national debt with Japan and China, and free trade (slave labor) greatly expanded under Bush.

It will have to be a slow recovery, no matter what.

1. We must remove a lot of power that has been granted unjustly to the presidency.

2. Congress will be given much of that power, but must be changed from a forum for special interest groups.

3. The courts must act when the president does something wrong. (ex: During the Korean war, after there was a strike on hand, President Truman ordered the Commerce Department to suspend labor laws, and seize factories; it might have suceeded, but the courts told him he had exceeded his authourity).

4. Bureaucracy must be cut as much as possible. This will be hard, but will increase accountability, and decrease money lost, and corruption.

5. The US must respect all international law, and treaties signed or ratified. No excuses, like "illegal combatant".

6. All nations must be treated as equals in the world.

7. A serious effort must be made to save our planet. Global warming is not a myth, and those who deny this do so at the expense of the future of our species.

8. The US leads the world in technology, and it is a major reason why the US is the world's superpower. Sufficient money must be handed over to science.

Do this, and recovery is possible. Fail to do so, and the US will probably not be the superpower of the world by the end of this century.

How long this will take, if ever implemented, I cannot rightly say.

That's a damn good question. I suspect Iraq will drag on unless the democrats in congress stick to their guns. They're there to get us out, they don't need to override a veto, they just do what they are doing, you get this much to do this, if not, you don't get another spending bill from the democratic party. Simple really. It's going to take some time. If the dems win as I expect will happen both with the white house and congress, the war is over. It's going to take some time either way to get our troops and equipment out as safely and quickly as possible. When that happens and Iraq continues to be chaotic, the government is going to fold when we leave, the republicans will be going ballistic about the deaths and all the chaos and killing, you know, the same thing we are seeing with our own troops involved. There is a part of our society that couldn't be happier if America was extending its might somewhere. I really do pity whoever gets elected, what a giant load of crap they are going to have dumped on them.

As SOON as we educate all the radical Liberals who make unfounded claims like "the Bush Administration has caused damage to the US".

It must be most difficult to go through life so terribly misguided that you hear some nutcase blame the President for everything... and you believe it.
What I find most disheartening is this:

there are two elements at work here: ignorance and stupidity

one can be IGNORANT of facts... and there is nothing wrong with this... for once introduced to those facts, the ignorant become enlightened and learn.

then, there is stupidity. stupidity is when someone either clings to ignorance or refuses to accept the truth because it isn't what they want it to be.

Now... the truth is... George Bush isn't the evil demon that the idiot left would paint him to be. Is he the greatest President ever? No. Is he better than Clinton was on foreign policy? Absolutely. Clinton allowed Americans to be attacked and killed and never retaliated at all. Clinton withdrew at the first sign of combat in Mogadishu and showed the terrorists that we don't have the stomach for a fight, precipitating 9/11.
Yet... here you sit making claims that it was HIS administration that damaged the US...

so tell me this:
what expertise do you hold in political affairs to make the assertion? I see no source quoted... is it Sheryl Crow or Rosie O'Donnell?

Generations I fear. I am afraid that even once this regime is ousted that the next administration will not have the conviction or leadership to reverse all the harm that the regime has caused to our country, its people, the enviroment we live in, and the terrible effect this country has had on the rest of the world these last 8 years. I think that right now only Al Gore and Ralph Nader may have the stones to stand up and make REAL life altering changes that will last.

Maybe someday. Due to the ammount of secrecy that shrouds the Bush administration, we don't know the full extent of laws broken and what damage has been done within American federal agencies and institutions -
Much less everything else they've done.
Bush's administration has been the most criminal since maybe Grant, or Harding. And then there is Bush's war and the war crimes it created.
I honestly wonder how much can come to light.
God knows what Bush has done to the global balance of power.

Around 2041 maybe?

But that's just a guess--seeing how our country is still divided and our government no longer represents the people.

EDIT:

Our country has gone to pot with an outlaw administration--and some of these responders on the board are still blaming Clinton???

WAKE UP TROLLS! TIME TO EMBRACE THE REALITY IN WHICH YOU'VE CREATED BY GIVING BUSH AND CHENEY TOO MUCH POWER!!!

COME ON KIDS...! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!

I don't think that we've seen half the damage yet, I think that the punches are going to keep coming.
He's not even done looking for the right people to intimidate, (to "secure" the country's future)
Lord knows how far he'll go with that, but he's gaining "enemies" at every turn, so lord knows where the states will be by the time he's gone....

God help America

The worst damage is his slow response to the environmental crisis in favor of protecting the fossil fuel industry. In reference to the war, I am not in a position to have all the info and neither are you, but as a family member of someone who once had a high security clearance, I am fairly certain that the proper steps are being taken. It is infortunate that this administration seemed to have a sleezy way of allaying our fears, what they should have said is, "ITS CLASSIFIED" and we, as Americans, MUST respect that, or risk losing this war, and that is not fear-mongering, that is a fact. If you wish to have a larger voice in the direction this country is headed, go into officers training school or politics.

When we get over the damage caused by Bill Clinton? Selling us out to the Chinese. Allowing the sale of our nuclear launch technology. Voluntarily slowing our reaction to a nuclear attack. Never responding to all the terrorism perpetrated against the US emboldening the terrorists. Ignoring problems with Social Security, healthcare, etc.
