Dishwashers, waiters and others whose jobs and dilapidated home addresses seem to make them unpromising targets for political fundraisers are pouring $1,000 and $2,000 contributions into Clinton’s campaign treasury. In April, a single fundraiser in an area long known for its gritty urban poverty yielded a whopping $380,000. When Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) ran for president in 2004, he received $24,000 from Chinatown…

…Of 74 residents of New York’s Chinatown, Flushing, the Bronx or Brooklyn that The Times called or visited, only 24 could be reached for comment.

This is from a LA Times story. I couldn't link because you much be a subscriber.

12. Democratic socialism is an international movement for freedom, social justice and solidarity. Its goal is to achieve a peaceful world where these basic values can be enhanced and where each individual can live a meaningful life with the full development of his or her personality and talents and with the guarantee of human and civil rights in a democratic framework of society.
13. Freedom is the product of both individual and cooperative efforts - the two aspects are parts of a single process. Each person has the right to be free of political coercion and also to the greatest chance to act in pursuit of individual goals and to fulfil personal potential. But that is only possible if humanity as a whole succeeds in its long-standing struggle to master its history and to ensure that no person, class, sex, religion or race becomes the servant of another.

As with Bush, Rove focuses like a laser on battles, just to lose the entire war.

Neither has foresight nor depth of long term consequences for their decisions.

How did the good patriotic people of Nevada, a state with a strong history of self reliance and military support ever elect a far left liberal loon like Harry Reid as one of their Senators?

...it were discovered that another country was using the exact same tactics to get info from US soldiers that the US uses on suspected (and actual) terrorists? what if that countries leaders said that what they were doing was not torture, yet refused to define what they believed to be or not to be torture?

would you be ok with this treatment of our soldiers? shouldn't (and isn't there) an international standard that all nations should uphold concerning human rights? if a nation refused to uphold and protect human rights, then how could that nation expect other countries not to treat their POW's any differently?

"It's no surprise for Democrats to lose white men and evangelicals. But in this election, we also lost white women, married people, couples with children, high school graduates, college graduates, people over 30, and, by our estimate, voters in every annual household income category above $40,000. Our coalition consisted of high school dropouts and those with postgraduate educations (99% of the Universtiy Proff's). That coalition is not the foundation for building a durable Democratic majority."

"Of America's 3,114 counties, Bush won 2,532 -- or 81.1 percent -- covering 78 percent of our country's land mass. In only 162 of those counties -- just over 6 percent -- was Bush's margin of victory less than 5 points. As the Los Angeles Times reported, Bush won 97 of the nation's 100 fastest-growing counties -- Kerry won just three."

It is disgraceful that Rush Limbaugh is able to buy his way out of his irresponsible "phony soldiers" comments by getting his rich friends to spend millions on E-bay. I guess if you have enough money you can say any disgusting thing you want.

is water-boarding (simulated drowning) torture? slapping/punching in the face? using a car battery to burn/shock? cigarette burns? sleep/food deprivation? forcing someone to strip naked and confine them alone in a room for weeks at a time?

are these things torture? all of these have been done by either the US or by US allies under supervision or with the knowledge of US officials.

if these things aren't torture, then what is? if they aren't torture, then why would the average citizen be considered a criminal if they did any or all of these things to another person to get info from them?

We should all that money to fund the war on terror so we can defeat the Islamo Fascists.

I don't need 'free goodies' from the government but I do want to be kept safe. It costs money to fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here!
