Charity's Political Divide
Republicans give a bigger share of their incomes to charity, says a prominent economist
In Who Really Cares: The Surprising Truth About Compassionate Conservatism (Basic Books), Arthur C. Brooks finds that religious conservatives are far more charitable than secular liberals, and that those who support the idea that government should redistribute income are among the least likely to dig into their own wallets to help others.
Some of his findings have been touched on elsewhere by other scholars, but Mr. Brooks, a professor of public administration at Syracuse University, breaks new ground in amassing information from 15 sets of data in a slim 184-page book (not including the appendix) that he proudly describes as "a polemic."
"If liberals persist in their antipathy to religion," Mr. Brooks writes, "the Democrats will become not only the party of secularism, but also the party of uncharity."

Both Democrats and Republicans have pet charities and corporate agendas that they 'donate' to. Certain corporations have aligned themselves with one party or the other and give to causes that benefit their own pocketbook.
Stereotypically though, you will see the Democrats doing more volunteer time on causes... like stopping the war or getting the S-Chip bill to pass. ( A bill that raises the income limit to draw welfare.)
Also as stereotype of Republican behavior is to see them spending money on advertising to get their candidate's issues passed.
I don't know if you can compare evenly. Good question though. :)

Conservatives, by definition, believe in relying on the individual
to contribute what they can and what they want. They generally want
less government interference.
Liberals believe the government is better at actuating "charity", so
they vote incessantly for more and more government programs, but
give less personally, thinking that their "progressive vote" is
charity in and of itself. How touching!
"I am a socialist, just not with my own money".
Conservatives are not a selfish lot
By ANDREW FERGUSON
"But what really astounded him was the amount of giving: In 2000, he
says, conservative households gave 30 percent more money to charity
than liberal households."
"It's down the line," he says. "Religious people are 21 percent more
likely to volunteer in explicitly secular causes. They're even twice
as likely to donate blood."

Bible Belt most generous in charitable giving
"PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — New Englanders remain among the most
tightfisted in the country when it comes to charitable giving while
Bible Belt residents are among the most generous, according to an
annual index.
For the fourth year running, New Hampshire was the most miserly
state, according to the Catalogue of Philanthropy's Generosity
Index. Mississippi remained at the top for generosity.
The index, which takes into account both "having" and "giving," is
based on average adjusted gross incomes and the value of itemized
charitable donations reported to the Internal Revenue Service on
2003 tax returns, the latest available."

Studies show that Republican's are generious in time, talent, and donations to charity. On TV they showed a study in two cities ... San Francisco (Dem) & Oklahoma (Rep) ... they measured collections from the Salvation Arm's can and the one's in Okla. gave 3 times more than those in San Fran.
Democrates rely on the government to solve everything.

The volunteer time alone is too great to estimate.
