by way of fact Republicans tend to be the actual "middle classification". Democrats have captured the large wealthy and the poor. the wealthy by way of fact they supply tax breaks to anybody who's wealthy... think of roughly it: we are a funds pushed international. why could somebody vote for a central authority respected that should eliminate you funds? Then, the democrats supply the funds from the middle classification to the poor people who won't desire to artwork. Plus, the people interior the purple states are greater in all probability to bypass to varsity, yet to apply federal funds. the wealthy people do no longer want the funds and the poor people are not going to varsity. Most of these welfare people in the red states don't vote at all or they vote for democrats. 80% of the "nation's revenue" as you call it rightfully belongs back in the hands of the citizens not in the government's hand.

hmmmmm.....it's interesting how some people answered your question. I guess you hit a nerve. The same thing goes with abortion rates as well. Indeed, welfare rates are high in inner cities but most people who receive welfare and abortions are from Southern red states. (I just looked it up).

As several have already pointed out, most welfare actually goes to blue counties. In fact, as many Conservative analysts have rightly opined for years, the real divide in this country is between blue and red counties.

Many "red" states have high black and/or hispanic populations, so I am always careful not to generalize lest my comments be unintentionally racist.
