By raising and lowering interest rates, the Fed can control unemployment. They even go as far as keeping millions of Americans out of work in order to stem off inflation. This tactic is also used to keep downward pressure on wages. If too many Americans have jobs, there will be too much pressure on employers to raise wages and offer more benefits. If they didn't then their employees would most likely just find work elsewhere if they didn't feel as though they were being fairly compensated. To date, no economist has been able to come up with another way to stem the tide of inflation. But does that make it right? When interest rates are higher, there's less economic activity, no one buys cars or houses and businesses hire less. But the jobs are low wage jobs, so it's not the doctors, lawyers, and CEO's who are getting hurt, it's the janitors, dish washers, cashiers, etc. who feel the squeeze. Any thoughts

And if they want to pass the Amnesty for illegals, why don't they just attach a rider bill with Amnesty for people with bad credit? That will ensure passage!

You know, the scene where King Arthur represses the peasants (Eric Idle) in the field?

Dennis: Ah! Now we see the violence inherent in the system!

Arthur: SHUT UP!

Dennis: Oh, come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help! Help! I'm being repressed!

Arthur: (muttering) Bloody peasant!

Dennis: Oh, what a giveaway! Did you hear that? Did you hear that, eh? That's what I'm on about! Did you see him repressin' me? You saw it, didn't you?

"What does liberty and the pursuit of happiness mean when parents can't take a sick child to a doctor".

Notice how libs use emotions to implement socialist policies and justify their destruction of the US constitution>

Why are you mad at him???
Shouldn't you be mad at the jury that were the ones that voted and not at OJ???

I can't beleive what Bush has done. I have so much pain for the loss of my brother in Iraq. Many of you know how much pain I live with. My brother died in vain and now I have to see what bush is doing to protect himself.

No president has ever pulled the stunts Bush has commited against America. But this is beyond politics. This is taking power away from all of the people of our contry.

Either Bush is completely paranoid, or he has done things that are so illegal and he knows this. I beleive both are true. However this is beyond what any president has ever attempted to do.

If the war in Iraq is not bad enough, and the loss of my brotherss life is not bad enough. then this is. What Bush is pulling here is un constituional and as a former republican I urge you al to open your eyes and minds and see what Bush is doing to us and that means the republicans. Look what bush is doing. He used al of us, he lied to us. I like so many more republicans see finally how bad things are.

I don't like the look of these pants either but should local government be able to tell kids they can't dress like that? Kids have always rebelled... If they don't want to see bare butts; they have to consider plumber's cracks... Seriously; check this link:

Many people think we're in Iraq only for the oil. I personally believe thats ONE OF THE REASONS we're there but not the ONLY REASON.

Why are people bashing Bush?? This country runs on oil and we need it no matter what. We can't just let any bad country (Iran) take over the other countries that we buy oil from. Our president is just looking out for us in the future...

What do you think???

Actually, the entire quote, from economist Milton Friedman, is as follows:

"A society that puts equality before freedom will get neither. A society that puts freedom before equality will get a high degree of both."

What does this mean to you? Do you agree? Why or why not?

Thanks.
