I don't like the look of these pants either but should local government be able to tell kids they can't dress like that? Kids have always rebelled... If they don't want to see bare butts; they have to consider plumber's cracks... Seriously; check this link:

It seems people think that freedom means you have the freedom to force others into doing what they want. I don't like the way the kids are dressing either but come on. We don't have to legislate everything.

The "plumber's crack" while a point of concern, is from a guy who is working, usually in a less than comfortable position, and may not have yet gotten around to pulling up his pants. If he's busy, his waist line is the last thing on his mind. Purposely letting your pants sag should be banned. Society has a right to say what is acceptable, and what is not.

Absolutely not. After all, they don't tell Paris Hilton or 50 Cent what to wear and those are the fashion icons the media puts on the front pages all the time. But it's happening and we're accepting it. I hope the people of Atlanta and the town in Louisiana do something about it now. Young kids can take up signatures to have senile old men walking around town sporting pee stains on their pants jailed also.

well... the question is... why is it illegal and is the law being applied equally?

while I may not particularly like it... I don't think it's obscene either...

and this of course, will be challenged in court... and is it worth taxpayers dollars to fight this case? these kinds of cases aren't cheap and I'm afraid the state may not have much of a case, legally speaking...

so you have the time wasted on passing this law...the money and time wasted in courts (both criminal, in prosecution, and civil, when the person files a civil suit against the town)... the money wasted enforcing this law and the money that will probably be wasted in the "decision" in the reward that the courts will give the person that was fined...

I guess that town doesn't have anything better to spend their money on? something tells me that they probably do though...

EDIT: how do you know what's intentional or not? the law can't be so rediculously subjective...

Showing your underwear or more could be considered indecent exposure. Personally, it doesn't bother me, I'm in my 20's and I see people dressed like that all the time. I agree with plumber's crack too, it needs to stop!

We don't need to check the link. What the towns are doing is 100% the right thing to do. Nobody needs to put up with a bunch of children who intentionally offend people just for the shock value of it.

A city can't tell you what to wear because it violates your 1st amendment rights, but they can tell you how you can't wear clothes if it counts as indecent exposure.

Not what to wear, but what you have to cover up. It is not the pants that are being banned, but the way they are warned.

sure, anyone can wear what they want, but if what they want to wear amounts to indecent exposure, then they should be prepared for the consequences...
