Although sometimes a bit odd, I always thought right wing hard-core christians were just goofy and harmless. But Rosie seems to be an expert on this topic. Is she right? If so, should our elected officials do something about it - maybe add them to the no-fly list or something?

The Democratic Party is notorious for increasing taxes, there's no arguement there.

But IF they get into the White House in 2008, how are they going to handle tax increases? We've lived for 8 years with a reduction in taxes, making things pretty steady for everyone in the country. Since the poor make up a large portion of the Democratic Party, wouldn't it be risky for the Democrats to raise taxes, thereby hurting the poor and possibly losing that base?

If you're British, do you believe that it was justified?

I often hear that history is written by the winners of wars.

Do you think that history has been exaggerated or do think that most of the facts were correct and it was a just war?

I'm just curious.

Darned if I know which category is best for this question.

I'm Québecoise but many American AM talk radio stations come in strong here and I listen if only to be amused and know the enemy. I have been struck that all of the right wing show hosts, ever bombastic for "traditional" morality among other things, seem to run a commercial by something called Triple Advantage which apparently is a credit monitoring service. The gist of this commercial, which runs frequently, is that a guy's having a better credit rating enables him to buy more stuff and have a wealthier lifestyle which in turn will enable him to attract more women. Buying their charms so to speak. Am I the only one who notes the irony of these right wingers to run this commercial which embraces the stereotype and fantasy that women are primarily interested in guys' money and thereby can be bought off, all prostitutes in a way?. And why haven't American feminists voiced objection to this commercial?

It is clear Bush and Kerry belonged to the infamous Skull and Bones society. A society so secret they are bound to silence on the subject. Even in the bible it says man cannot have 2 masters for he will love the one and hate the other. So why are these type of politicians even allowed to be in the nomination of a public servant position when their loyalties are already established by secret society affiliation?

It is clear to any person educated enough on the subject, that the US may very well be on their way to a WW3. Not certain, but the clues give you enough evidence to realize its probability. Iran, North Korea, Humas, Syria, Somalia, etc. are starting to build-up there axis of evil. Given the relations between the Brits, Americans, and NATO forces and Iran, N.Korea, Somalia, Syria, Humas, etc. hit a true boiling point..
do you think it would be wise to legalize marijuana?

Trillions of dollars come into the USA every year from Marijuana sales. Because its not legal, the government doesnt gain any of the profits from the sales. If the government legalized marijuana and put just a 5% tax on it.. they could make 500billion dollars a year for every trillion dollars that comes into the US every year.
**would congress gain control of the money? if not, it would give the pres. more freedom in the war to make decisions.

This would easily fund a war that will take MANY resources to win.

cont..

The new law would put parents in jail for up to a year if they discipline their children who are under four years old by striking them.

The person who introduced the bill, San Francisco Bay-area Democrat Assemblywoman Sally Lieber , has no children herself.

Is it the role of government to tell parents how to discipline their own children? Obvious physical abuse is not the issue, there are laws against that already in place.
Would a mere slap on the hand or backside warrant being charged with a misdemeanor and some jail time?

In what ways may the actual incidence of a government expenditure program differ from the legislated intent? Why are the effects different in the short-run and different in the long-run? What examples can I use to show the effects of government farm programs. How can I explain how the short-run and long-run effects of a regulatory program, such as rent control, may differ? I'm totally lost on this and need some intelligent, attractive, wonderful person to lend a hand. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Please no soundbyte answers. This is the question that I believe America needs to consider before thinking about either adding troops to, or redeploying troops from, Iraq. It should have been discussed before invading Iraq. It should have been the foundation for the 9/11 report, it should have been the foundation for the Iraq Study Group. This has not yet been tackled.

I for one am tired of listening to "not by cutting and running," and "not by starting a war based on lies."

Change our policies? The US has been the primary benefactor of Arabs and of Muslims everywhere in the world for 60 years. We tried diplomacy before the Iraq invasion (12 years with Iraq; years with French & Russian governments that had multi-$B deals dependent upon Saddam staying in power). "Arrogance" is nonsense. I've lived half my adult life outside the U.S., speak seven languages, and find that we are perhaps the least arrogant people on earth. "Leave Iraq" might be a good idea, but it won't solve this.
