Darned if I know which category is best for this question.

I'm Québecoise but many American AM talk radio stations come in strong here and I listen if only to be amused and know the enemy. I have been struck that all of the right wing show hosts, ever bombastic for "traditional" morality among other things, seem to run a commercial by something called Triple Advantage which apparently is a credit monitoring service. The gist of this commercial, which runs frequently, is that a guy's having a better credit rating enables him to buy more stuff and have a wealthier lifestyle which in turn will enable him to attract more women. Buying their charms so to speak. Am I the only one who notes the irony of these right wingers to run this commercial which embraces the stereotype and fantasy that women are primarily interested in guys' money and thereby can be bought off, all prostitutes in a way?. And why haven't American feminists voiced objection to this commercial?

its funny to me that here in the "land of the free" most ppl feel that nobody is allowed to have an opinion that differs from their own. this happens on both sides of the fence, and there is a lot of transparent hypocrisy on both ends.

theres already ppl that have answered by insulting you for being a free thinker. its too bad.

yes, that does seem wrong, but look at the ppl that tend to have those shows. they tend to spout off about what jesus wants, which was to have all mankind love each other. but if you're gay, agree with abortion, disagree with the war, or are any kind of political persuasion other than republican, you're evil and you side with the terrorists. meanwhile there are those ads you mentioned, which make a man manlier because he has better credit..... its a business, and they only care about dollar signs.

this happens on the other side, who tend to call all republicans fascists as well (though with the current cabinet in power, its pretty accurate.)

as far as the feminists go, i'll agree that they have good points on some topics, but in many cases, there are double standards in their favor, like in women police officers not needing to pass the same physical requirements, or in cases of phsyical altercations where they demand equal rights, but if a man hits a woman he goes to jail for twice as long, while she can attack him and not be punished as severly.

not saying any of it is right or wrong, it just doesnt all seem to add up. anyhow, you are correct in this situation, but they wont wanna hear it, so be prepared for all those nasty messages coming your way. unfortunately there are a lot of ppl out there that dont want you or anyone else to think on their own.

The issues are presented in an outlandish way. They are simplified, dumbed down, turned into one-liners or bumper stickers. That said, is it better for the proletariat underclass to have some exposer to the issues, or would it be better if they had no exposure? Tough question. I would say no exposure if the only exposure they can get, or are willing to listen to, is highly manipulative Rush Limbaugh style or Sean Hannity style blather. If the blue collar lumpen proletariat gets no exposure to political issues, maybe they won't vote. The more sub-normal persons who take themselves out of the voting process, the richer the electorate is in normal or beyond normally intelligent voters. A better voting pool, on average, over time, will tend to produce better outcomes in terms of electing more capable people to office. In my little town (Hagerstown Maryland) talk radio is the main source from which people get any exposure to the issues. This results in a highly polarized, highly braniwashed, highly manipulated group of people with strong opinions. Rep Bartlett is hugely popular here, and yet he's one of the worst people ever sent to the Congress by any District anywhere. He does nothing, well worse than nothing really, but I don't want to be more specific here. Let's just say he's a bad outcome and it's because the elctorate is brainwashed, and polarized. Huckerism we will always have with us. Elmer Gantry, Billy Sunday, the list goes on -- all the way down to Bernie Madoff, and the shell game players who got the TARP money, from Paulson, and Geithner. We live is a great country with a lot of disgraceful people in it. Talk Radio doesn't make them or it any better. It brings out the worst from both. Were it no for the First Amendment, it should be banned. But that Amendment is GOOD, so talk radio must be tolerated, more's the pity.

Commercials are just that,..enticing someone to buy a product. Some are humorous, some slanted toward the idiocy of people and some almost stupid.

Wherever you live there is someone trying to use some kind of attraction to get you to buy something. Look around, you'll find one nearby.

Just laugh it off, it's more helpful for you.

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it still make a sound?

Feminists would not be interested in listening to conservative talk radio (too smart for that). Therefore, you can't object to a commercial you haven't heard. ;-)

Cause its true. Rich guys get chicks. And there is no morality at play as the guy may well be looking for a beautiful wife to marry.

What does the Radio show have to do with the ads they carry ?

Do you think a talk radio show goes out and finds certain products to advertise ???

Advertisers place ads in the media they think will get them the most sales, it has nothing to do with politics at all.

Yes, apparently you are the only one. Here's a thought: Why don't you protest Ottawa and when it comes to the US, mind your own business! Oh, and I am a female!

It's supposed to be a joke - it's funny because it's so stupid. Americans get that, even the radical hippy feminists.

Please don't attack us with your mighty army of flannel bombers!!!
