I'm Scottish (living in England) and I don't think there will be many pro's after splitting.
I think the 4 Nations together make a great union and we all bring great things to Britain. But I do have to say I am really getting fed up of being told to piss off home.

The Pro's for Scotland are that all monies that are raised by taxation will go to the Scottish Exchequer, not to the "British" tax raiser.
The Pro's for England are that all monies paid to Scotland under the "Barnet Formulae" would remain in England.
For Scotland: Water, Hydro electricity, would be charged at least 10% more than Scottish users. That would mean that the price the English pay would then be reversed!
YES......we Scots are charged more for our Electricity, and our Gas prices are also higher.
Why should people who live in London get paid more than the people of Scotland, as our cost of living is higher ? That is an other good reason for Scottish Independence

The scots pay very little into the pot and take billions in english taxes back out.
We would probably never have to suffer the ravages of a labour government again if we shed scotland.
On thias basis, england would be well shut and we may have more control over the thousands of drunks and drug abusers that spill ver the border every year.(Although we cant seem to keep the muslims out)
However, england has surrendered enough of its colonies and land over the decades.Blairs even surrendering Northern Ireland and Gibraltar.
On this premise,we should keep scotland despite the cost.We would only end up supporting scotland with financial aid anyway.

The Pro's for Scotland:
No more England to drain our tax revenues (yes that's right! England gets more than Scotland because civil service salaries are counted as English even if you work in Scotland)
The freedom to take control of all our affairs, including the freedom to say no to nuclear. It works for Denmark, it can work here.
The freedom to support our own profit-making industries. Those who remember Ravenscraig and Gartcosh will know what I mean.
The freedom to properly define our own values. You know, the stuff that makes us Scottish, like supporting higher education and caring for those who cannot care for themselves through no fault of their own. It also means providing for pensioners properly.
The freedom to make a complete @r$e of our own economy, if that is what we choose to do. Or the freedom to improve ourselves. Ireland may not be perfect but it is better off than it was before it took control of its own destiny and actually started believing in itself. Scotland can do that too if it has the bottle.
Con:
That the New Labour chancers will get back into power after Alex has delivered us from the Scots-in-Denial at Westminster and then go and bugger things up again.
Do I really need to state my nationality?

An independent Scotland would be in full control of its own affairs, and as a full member in it's own right of the E.U. and other International bodies, could negotiate on behalf of the Scottish Nation. There will be changes of course as it comes to terms with its neighbours on the Island of Britain. There will be some pain and some gain for it's people. For some people who have answered this question may I say, why would there be war? and what right has England to hold on to the land of other Countries?it can still be a voice to be heard in the World. As for Tony Blair giving away the North of Ireland, as one person has said, he is in fact facing up to the British/Irish question and seeking a final end to this problem which has plagued relations between the two Islands for Centuries. I am Irish/Scottish/Welsh.

. That Scotland being recognised as a country. At the moment most foreigners think it is part of England and as far as England is concerned they won the war, the Falklands conflict regardless of how many Scots, Welsh and Irish lost there life's fighting for what is known as Britain.
All we want is recognition good or bad being part of Britain and not every one thinking that it is England. and then we really could be GREAT BRITAIN

Pros of separating: no more 'new' Labour, ID cards and tax ditched, no more subsidising the Scots, possibly no new Trident
Cons: Conservatives in power, lots more talk of 'global warming' by people flying around in private jets. Potential war w. Scotland to be renamed Brand New England henceforth.

I'm English, and I read in some paper that our taxes will go down if we seperate from Scotland because we are supporting them. And we might be able to get rid of Gordy Brown and you lot can have him!
