Compare the current animocity of competing countries, none of whom have much sway (except for the superpower) with a global federation of 10 000 states/counties/provinces/etc, all very different, each of whom are based on old provinces, not invented specially. Say the world govt is democratically elected and only controls about 5% of tax revenues, mostly to fund peacekeeping, wildlife protection and pollution control measures. And each US/Brz/Ngr/Aus/Ind state, Russian oblast, Chinese&Canadian province, Ger Bundesland, Fr Departement, UK County, etc became independent in that they could all have their own laws, control their own budgets, have or choose any currency to use, have immigration & foreign ownership restrictions if they so chose, measures ensuring competition, unique local tax & benefits systems, ... . In short, who needs countries, right - they leave people antagonised - but would this still be the case under this new system?

I read this on another site and seem to remember watching a program about it on sky.
That the UK and the US invaded Iraq, because Iraq where going to start selling oil in the euro instead of the dollar, which if correct would have an impact on the American economy.
Is there any truth in this?

The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) has gained a lot of attention in recent years with the lawsuits its brought against government entities demanding that religious symbols be removed from public property in order to conform to the concept of "separation of church and state." The vast majority of these suits have been to remove Christian and Jewish symbols. Does anyone know of an instance in which the symbols of other religions have been targeted by the group? In other words, has the ACLU been even-handed in its opposition to religion on public property. Some have said that Christian prayers and symbols are targeted with zeal, but that religious expressions by Muslim, Native American, Wiccan and other religions are ignored, or even encouraged at schools and other public places on the basis of promoting "multi-culturism."

Yes i heard lip-service to the American public & many of the subjects Nancy spoke of such as comprehensive immigration are NOT of the public majority will! The direct issue of Poverty by many several generational legal Americans NOT mentioned & it is a major problem related to Immigration in general! Getting this homeland/country/house in order first! I saw ridiculous grandstanding, handclapping, gloating & not changing to a mode of getting down to serious business!

If we got them all in on our side one country at a time under our terms & conditions, could we beat the US and partake in the 21st century Chinese triumph of superpowers?
Who do we aim to include, who to leave out? Why not include ALL Muslim countries, perhaps the whole planet in the end?

I very much enjoy watching the Colbert Report and the interesting guests that he has on. His dialog seems to indicate to me that he is obviously not happy with the current administration and that change needs to be made. However, many of his guests either don't pick up on his sarcasm or for some other reason indicate in their conversations with him that he may lean Republican. I think that he is basically operating under the same strategy that the Daily Show uses when John Stewart speaks with his "correspondents" with the exception that Colbert's guests do not rehearse what they talk about. If you had to place him in a category politically, where would you? Personally I would consider him a clear thinking, intelligent individual who entertains his viewers by forcing them to examine the issues affecting their lives and come to their own conclusions regarding them. What do you all think?? Happy New Year!!!

Well Europeans you guys think America has no right to be in Iraq well remeber this remeber 9/11 were hunderds of Europeans died in those towers and you guys dont want to do anything about it. Also the cowardly spaniards are too wussy to fight terrorists that killed over 200 in madrid. You spainards should fight to Islamofacists all around the world with America but you have become like France. Shame on you Spain. You guys are jealousy that we are better than you guys in Everything. Remeber the deadly attacks on London and you Brits want to pull out well thank god you have a PM with balls and a brain although i think his socialist ideologies is bad for the country but his stance on terror has made him a good choice. So remeber that freedom isnt free. This war is worth fighting for my European friends.
