Why would the oil companies give up running the United States?
It really doesn't matter what party senators or representatives belong to - they all accept bribes from lobbyist. That's how politics run in any country. Why do people think the US is any different?
Government is NEVER for the common person. It is ALWAYS in the best interest of the rich. It has been that way since the beginning and nothing will change that...

With all due respect, NOBODY and I mean NOBODY in this country pays taxes except the consumer. No exceptions, no buts, no maybes.
When you buy a loaf of bread, rolled into that price is everything from the cost of the land used to grow the wheat to the taxes on the the power bill for the supermarket. If you think any business pays taxes think again. When I work for someone, they pay my taxes, the taxes on my house, the registration on my car etc. They even pay all those taxes on that loaf of bread I buy.
If you haven't figured that out yet, it is time to start doing so.

Well i guess without the rep. in their pocket they'll have to raise prices again.
By cars that are good on gas or hybrids. We cant beat the gas companies, but we can the car companies. They will make what sells. The only reason we're not fully electric is they know it's not profitable b/c there are still ignorant jack@sses out there in their gas guzzling suv's

It's unfortunate but they will have to pass that on to the consumer in some form. We might get a tax break on fuel though because that's how the gov't recoups the subsidy money.
By the way, nice dress!

I really hope they will actually make only a modest profit instead of record ones, and keep gas prices the same. But I fear they sill just raise prices so their CEOs can get their multi-million dollar bonuses.

Oh it will get passed on to the consumer, but is that any different from what there doing to us already? They have us over a barrel and they know it.
Note to Polaris: we were just paying over 4.00 a gallon for gas, what makes you think gas won't go back up anyway?

Well, they'll either cut their profits, and risk losing investment support, or they'll increase prices.
I'm going for passing on the cost to the consumer, like every other business does.

they'l raise the price at the pumps again, as they have been doing here in Missouri I pay 2.25 and the price per barrell is falling, yet when it was 10 cents higher we paid only 2.05 that was less than one month ago!

I doubt we'll see a large jump in the price in gasoline, but I do suspect their will be a few more Americans looking for work who were once employed by them.

well they would raise prices, if that was ever going to happen, but it won't.
take away corporate welfare?? oh no that is socialism to even speak of such nonsense! /end sarcasm
but usually, that is the threat used by politicians that aren't oil company whores, to get them back in check on their gouging.
afterall, what other industry sees record profits when their overhead increases?
