Looking back, will we cringe over the Iraq war the way we do with Bell Bottoms and Platform Shoes. Will our children ask "What were you thinking", the way Germany's youth do today? Will students learn about the Iraq war the same way they do about the Salem Witch Hunts? Please give articulate, intelligent answers. No one liners. Thanks

Is he the last of the cowboy politicians or will America always prefer wild west politics over forward thinking, intelectual leadership?

One of the effects of nationalist thinking is a loss of a sense of proportion. The killing of 2,300 people at Pearl Harbor becomes the justification for killing 240,000 in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The killing of 3,000 people on Sept. 11 becomes the justification for killing tens of thousands of people in Afghanistan and Iraq.

We need to refute the idea that our nation is different from, morally superior to, the other imperial powers of world history.

We need to assert our allegiance to the human race, and not to any one nation.

Remember this on the 4th of July.

I think it would show Arab nations that the U.S. is culturally sensitive and it will improve American /Muslim relations.

I overheard someone say this and my reasoning by why they shouldn't was this:
Children pretty much believe anything and look up to the parents. Also the parents have a lot of influence in the childrens life. The fact of the matter is that the children would not be voting, it would be the parents. They will tell the kids who to vote for, the kids are not old enough to know what the arguments are and are not old enough to decide who they want in office. So it's like the parents voted twice or six times depending on how many kids they have.
What do you think?

If the government passed a law saying "no one is allowed to leave America," would it be constitutional? I can't find anything in the constitution that protects citizens' rights to leave America or renounce their citizenship. Shouldn't there be a clause stating that people should be free to leave if they want? It bugs me that that's not in there. Yeah I know that people can leave America now without being stopped (in most cases), but what if Congress passed a law saying otherwise? Wouldn't that be scary? Or would people even notice?
