It is my duty as an American citizen to NOT trust my government. My government is accountable to the American people, and it is our job to assume that they are up to some nastiness unless WE the PEOPLE know otherwise. If they aren't doing anything wrong, then they should have nothing to hide.

I distrust the people who elected them!

The first step towards the total collapse of a Democracy is when the taxpayer discovered they could dip into the til and get money for themselves!

And, ya'll did THAT in 1936, with Social Security, and moreso, in 1962, with LBJ, when he authorized the entire SS fund be dumped into the General Tax Collections, in exchange for a promissory note!

OK, I distrust Democrats, convicted felons, like Microsoft, and pedophiles. Not necessarily in that order...

I believe the government needs to have secrets. It's naive to think they shouldn't. However I do believe there are some rogue agencies and branches of agencies with too much power and no oversight that might not be trust worthy. Any government of man will have some corruption

Blind trust in the government isn't only stupid, it's downright unpatriotic.

If the founding fathers had just said "Oh, don't question the government, it'll all be okay, just trust them," then we wouldn't be celebrating the Fourth of July tomroow.

No. I mean what government doesn't have secrets? You can't tell EVERYTHING to the citizens. every government has corruptness even if it IS just a little bit. I'm not saying i downright trust them, but you know . . .
