It will eventually happen but I don't believe it will happen soon. I just look at Ohio. It's a red state but the republican candidate for governor if black and all the rednecks in the southern part of the state that usually vote republican are not supporting him at all because he is black. This is most likely what would happen across America today if a black person was running. There is just still too much prejudice and racism left.
