It would seem to be a better representation of the will of the people of the state if the electoral college votes for President were cast according to the popular vote in each Assembly District, with the two votes alloted for Senate representation going to the winner of the popular vote in the State.

According to my understanding, the number of Electoral College votes a State gets is determined by adding the number of Senators from the State (always 2) to the number of members of the House of Representatives from the State (depends on population).

John Edwards says we're selfish.
I take that to mean he's disappointed with the campaign contributions so far.
Seems to me,we're always there when disaster strikes, anywhere in the world.
what do you think?

Clinton hopes to enlist the support of thousands of women through what her campaign is calling their "women's leadership network." The campaign is asking female supporters in the network to take active roles in supporting Clinton's candidacy by e-mailing other women, campaign adviser Ann Lewis said.

A person that "can't recall" 250 times under oath is not fit to be President.
Or a person that was unaware her husband was having an affair is not fit be president.
Can we have a BIMBO for president? I think not!!!

After having fought so hard for the franchise, fewer people than ever now exercise their right to vote. If you haven't voted when you could have done, do you still have the right to criticise the government ? One way of getting people to value and use their vote might be to take it away if they don't vote in - say - two consecutive elections. Would the threat of disenfranchisement make people vote again ?

Here's the sitch: I am contemplating running for Student Body President. However, it somehow feels like no one wants to 1) be a running mate with me, and 2) follow me in anything I do, and constantly belittle me at all costs. I was Student Body President at the 2-year college I was at, and had a very successful administration there, until I got a headstrong and conceited Vice President during my second term, who conspired the rest of the Student Government against me and got me kicked out. Now at the University level, I feel the need to get back into the leadership role and finish out what I started, but I don't feel that I can without the proper backing from the rest of the Student Government. I need some major help and assistance from you guys. Please help!

I would suggest everyone look into the presidential candidates this year, and put in mind (when Obama or Clinton come up) Einstein's quote: What's popular is not always right, and what's right is not always popular.

Obama and Clinton are very popular and probably will get a lot of attention, but I implore everyone to look into the other candidates for 2008. One I have found is Dr. Ron Paul. He's been awarded as the "Tax Payer's friend" for severeal years now. He firmly believes in teh Constitution and if laws don't abide by it, he says NO to it! In congress, his nickname is "Dr. No" because he doesnt' vote party lines. he votes Constitution. But i'm just trying to introduce him to you in case you haven't heard in him the news. I strongly suggest you research him, but ALL of the candidates.
(I dont want to see "i'd rather vote for somenoe who's popular enough to win." If everyone thinks liek that, that's what happens. If people think about voting for the right person, things change.

The Republican candidates in this election leave a lot to be desired -- Rudy isn't a social con and McCain is way off the board on immigration. But unless someone else comes along, they're the front runners. Ugh!

Any other conservatives out there in this same boat? Who wil you vote for and why?

lets face it no matter what a person says, it seems that the person who makes the best impression seems to win. look at bush and carry, carry came off as a lier (constantly caught contradicting himself) but bush came off as..well not as much of a lier (they are all liers to some point) even though carry seemed more intelligent and organized than bush, i think we all remember the first debate between the two don't we?

In my opinion I believe Juliani will win. he has this blue collar aproachable feel to him. Hillary comes of as just another politician who's play'n the game just to win (for herself not for the country) obama seems inexperienced (though that could be jsut what we need, someone who hasn't play'ed the game yet and won't cheat, though i doubt many would agree with me) and the POW guy whats his white hair...he comes off as a wimp and maybe a lil too old.

Whudaya think?
