John Edwards says we're selfish.
I take that to mean he's disappointed with the campaign contributions so far.
Seems to me,we're always there when disaster strikes,anywhere in the world.
what do you think?

Humans are selfish, not just Americans. Senator Edwards needs to step out of the paint shed for a few.

I don't think Americans are any more selfish than any other country in the world. At certain times though, I think we could do more to help others in a crisis.. I would've liked to see more being done about the Hurricane and the Tsunami..

Absolutely, but being selfish is not necessarily bad. We eat because we want to continue living. This is selfish. We love others because we want to be loved. This is selfish. Being selfish is doing things for one's benefit. Unfortunately, this is Edwards name-calling again, and like other politicians, aren't doing anything to lead us out of this supposed evil selfishness.

It depends on the person. Generally Americans are generous. We are willing to share our good fortune with others. There are some greedy ones, however that give Americans a bad name as in anything else.

I think he is refering to rational self interest..
We have the most free economy, the most money, the most of everything.. And yet we always want more.. never being satisfied..
When compared with the rest of the world Americans are apathetic to most social, environmental, cultural injustices.. This is because we are busy watching TV, movies, video games, internet, etc and many of our citizens are undereducated or igonorant.. This is also why George W. Bush is the president..

He is the only selfish ambulance chaser I know of.

People from the US live for the "me" mentality. We are self-centered, egotistical, and when we fall, it will be hard.
